Different characters in my brain

This started when i was sitting alone and just thinking as usual when multiple characters in my brain showed up. They join in like a conversation where people sit around the table and talk. One is really funny, another serious, another loves to study and be philosophical and another one very mean plus me. Then we join into a conversation in my head and we laugh, argue, fight and talk about anything i would have with real people. Plus they dont just show up, they show up when they want to, not when i want them to entertain me.

Is this normal? has anyone had this go on inside their head?

I stand up every time I wipe my ass, is this normal?

my belly button is smelly inside. its tight and it gets smelly really deep. ive been like this since i was young. and sometimes i sniff it and like the smell even though its a bit rank

the urge to kill

I'll admit it, I have red hair. All my life I've been picked on about it and I think it has had a serious psychological effect on me. I have anger issues and I constantly think about killing people. All I want to do is play videogames where I can kill a person and pretend its somebody else. I think that one day I might snap and I'll come to school/work or wherever I please, and I'll kill people just for the hell of it. Then I'll run from the cops and kill anyone and everyone no matter what age. This has been a fantasy of mine for quite some time now as I have easy access to guns and I could do this without any challenge what so ever. So my question is, is it normal to want to kill people and run from the cops and die in shoot out like in the movies?

Got me wondering.......

There are people who have the urge to murder, rape etc. There must also be even more people walking around who also have these urges but manage to supress them...Wannabee murderers, rapists.

Ie a scale of urges where 1 is saint like and 10 is Jack the ripper, anything over 2 or 3 is potential murderer, rapist.

Scary eh and as Hova says.....Discuss :)

Any man is capable of killing. You would be surprised at how many former mentalists, paedos, rapists, murderers live on nearly every street in the country

I stand up every time I wipe my ass, is this normal?

We had a 30 page thread on this once. Can't find it now (I lack HF's searching skills) but basically the answer was yes, you're retarded.

Spelling arse as ass is way more retarded than wiping stance.

(Willing to accept poster could be a Yank)

On murder I often think it would be good to be able to have a "special power" which I'm sure I've read in some fiction to be able to just glance at a person and give them a time of death via a brain anyuerism or something. So if someone annoys you on the tran you just think "two hours" and at that time they drop down dead. Is this normal?

It described beautifully in the first Chapter of Trainspotting, where Mark Renton wishes cancer on an old woman who is slowing up the bus for his next junk fix.

Aye, it's pretty normal like (the desire, probably not the ability).

Strangely I've read all of his books except Trainspotting (seen the film).

There's a Dan Simmons book (one of my favourite authors) where a small number of people have the ability to coerce people to do their will without realising it which does go as far as "suicide".

Just my opinion but I regard Trainspotting as his masterpiece, I've read it several times and will continue to do so (each chapter can be read as a stand alone story which helps). I've found his latest books to be really disappointing in comparison.

Never read any Dan Simmons, I'll check it out.

Its the scene in the book where they meet Begbie's (?) Dad down by some disused railway tracks or something. They are looking for somewhere to shoot up and the dad/tramp says 'what you doing down here lads, trainspotting?' as a joke. Shooting smack = trainspotting, in a loose sort of way.

Thats just my theory anyway.

Weird to have read all his books bar Trainspotting like. I love the reason for the title btw.

What was the reason? :)

You'll have to read the book :D

You know what sunshine, you can be such the book-tease :D

Welsh is one of those authors I find a bit patchy but always worth the risk as they are usually to a decent standard even if not top notch. Of the ones I have read I probably would say Glue was my favourite. Sometimes he does go overboard with the genuine dialect stuff which makes it a bit too much like hard work. I haven't finished one of the novellas in his last one for that reason.

Dan Simmons crosses many genres - he is repsonsible for my two favourite Sci-Fi series (Hyperion and Olympos) but has also written some excellent horror, historical and detective stuff.

'Glue' is brilliant imo. I'd definitely read 'Trainspotting' though if you enjoyed it.

That's almost the scene but Begbie and Renton are just going for a piss in the disused Leith Railway station. An old pisshead ('jakey' as Welsh would say) says 'What you doing lads, Trainspotting?' or something along those lines. Renton realises who it is as they're walking away (Begbie's Dad, who Begbie never sees) and Begbie, also realising who it was goes in a rage and half kills someone for looking at him the wrong way. I think it's also a more general reference to shooting heroin as well plus there's probably a few more interpretations you could get into.

Correct.

Begbie is a brilliant character, we all know a Begbie, utter scum who are responsible for what's wrong with the world. He's a cameo in some other Welsh books (as is Renton) and will may a return in Trainspotting 3 I reckon, hope he dies a horrible death, the cunt. :)

I think the other book is 'Glue' btw.

He's mentioned in Filfth as well. And one of the characters in Filfth (DC Lennox) is the principle character in his latest book. I like the way Welsh has established a consistent Universe for his characters.

This is a canny detour for this thread btw. :)
