ManU v Citeh

Arsenal v. Wigan

and then us.......................

we beat the Landahn Derby at the Bridge, and Villa home against Pompey

Celtic did get 58,000 v Hearts for the record

even Forest (23,487) got more than Bolton & Burnley and very nearly beat Hull as well

TBF most other clubs stand in awe of our ability to screw things up on such a monster scale it defies all human belief

I suspect a second season amongst the dross will cut us back by another 8000 tho..........................

Was musing about this, and that, yesterday.

We seem to be continuing to be a big draw, not just for our own fans, but for tv. If we can manage to get promoted, surely we will be able to get a decent new shirt sponsorship deal ? Obviously not as big as Liverpool's, but one which would allow us to spend a few quid on players if we did indeed get promoted? Add that to season ticket sales and we would have a few options available.

All we have to do now is get rid of LardAsh and get promoted! Seemples.

Ah!

but you know that the great Gateshead Fault would suddenly activate and bring SJP crashing to the ground 10 minutes before kick-off on the first day of our return to the PL ("and no refunds - see the small print")

aal the cash would go on rebuilding

I've always considered Leeds United to be a mickey mouse club. They could be seen to be no bigger than Luton pre 1960. It's largely a rugby/cricket city historically, where the footballing side always seemed to manage to attract the worst skinhead right wing racist element of Yorkshire to Elland Road. Leeds has a population of about 800,000 but with 20 minutes drive you have easily over 2m people. My brother in law is a Leeds fan, big Leeds fan, he never gets embroiled in debates about Newcastle and Leeds, as he knows that I won't pipe down for a long time, but I know other Leeds fans and they GENUINELY believe they have the best supporters in England. As the self appointed best fans in England, their attendances have never backed this up. They consider themselves to be the biggest club in Yorkshire, if you go on www.waccoe.com from time to time, you will find most of them, rather surprisingly, seem to hate Newcastle only second to Man Utd, and slag our club off big time. When we went down they were speculating that our attendances would be 20,000.

Well let's just compare Leeds first four games after relegation to ours....

Derby 30,849

Nottingham Forest 31,808

Coventry 26,000

Stoke 25,759

against

Reading 36,900

Sheffield Wednesday 43,904

Leicester 38,800

Plymouth 42,898

There is no comparison, and never will be, if they read this board they will realise that they can't and never will be able to compete with us for loyalty or support, neither could Man City, and when they were down we weren't in such an economic pickle, as I've said none of them can compete or ever will compete, but as many have pointed out as long as the toon have mugs like me who would go what ever (and others on this board), who ever runs the club will always have license to take advantage.

What makes me laugh Stevie is Sheffield is a city that has two teams and the get weekly amount of 45-50k which is respectable. Leeds one team dont get close to that!!

Aye Sheffield is a better football city than Leeds, the two clubs get a lot of support from places like Donny, North Derbyshire, Barnsley and Rotherham though as well, and Sheffield is a big city in its' own right. It seems to me with Leeds, a lot of "Loiners" support a variety of clubs which isn't the case here thank god.

you're of course aware that burnleys grounds capacity is lower than that and that the towns population is less than a third of nottinghams

Either way it's nice to see decent crowds.

Strangely it doesn't look too empty with 10'000 empty seats. Hopefully we can break the attendance record for the championship this season, We'll be close to 50'000 against Boro I reckon.
