The Fish 10779
So when talking about specifically about a diamond midfield, how would you describe the fella up the front of it Thomas? pipe down you mop-haired work-dodging gatabout. Guest alex
I thought you were ignoring my posts from now on, you know, in one of your strops earlier on? I obviously meant that Nolan was at the front of a midfield diamond, but lets watch as yet again you ignore 98% of whatever I've written to continue your crusade against me, despite your claims that you don't care... The rest of the sentence was the giveaway imo

Sonatine 11329
KEANE QUESTIONS HIMSELFPosted 28/09/09 10:09 Roy Keane wondered aloud if he had been "found out" after Ipswich lost 4-0 to Newcastle in the Coca-Cola Championship at the weekend. Discontent from some sections of the Ipswich crowd could be heard at the final whistle with the Tractor Boys above only Plymouth in the table. The former Manchester United midfielder took over Sunderland in August 2006 with the club embroiled at the wrong end of the Championship only to lead them to the Premier League that season. But Keane said: "It will be more steady, we can see that. Every club and every challenge is different. "You can't compare the way we are at the moment with Sunderland. It is chalk and cheese. "When I got us up at Sunderland, maybe I got a bit of luck. Maybe I was just very, very lucky and I have been found out. "A lot of fans voiced their opinion at the end, and rightly so. I can look at the players, I can look at my staff, but I also have to look at myself. "Draw whatever conclusions you want from that - I'm sure you'll draw a few." If you were reading the sentence in it's entirety it would have been obvious that when I said up front I meant at the front of the diamond. Other people seem to have got it, I'd assumed you would have too. Well no, I assumed you'd have understood it, but am unsurprised you choose to ignore it, to instead try and score points or whatever. Kid Dynamite 7009
It doesnt matter really does it. Nolan being the bolded one. As it happens you're wrong anyway, even if you didn't mean he was upfront, the formation was more like.... . . . . . . . . . . Guest alex
Stevie, even if it was the wrong choice of phrase the rest of what he said explained what he meant. And Nolan said himself post match that he had licence to play furthest forward in midfield with the others sitting in.
The Fish 10779
fucking hell man Stevie. The latter formation is probably closest to the formation on Saturday, because Nolan wasn't between Carroll and Ranger. Nolan could be said to be in the middle of a midfield three ahead of Smith, ahead of the back four. However, Nolan was more advanced than Butt and R.Taylor making it essentially a diamond with Nolan at it's tip (as Holden reasonably puts it), you're just talking about the degree to which the Nolan player is able to get forward. He's still the front of the diamond. But that's not the point and you know it. Your point, the entire motive behind your post wasn't to debate the formation, it was to try and state that you're right and I'm wrong. It was because you don't like me and that's getting pretty boring.

trophyshy 7073
Nolan was more like an inside wing, for most of the first half, in the second I'd say he was performing a roaming role between the players around him.

snakehips 0
I thought Carroll's ball to Nolan for his 2nd was lovely. Played it exactly where he needed to. For his 3rd I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt to Ranger becase I think he was heading it down for Nolan. Looking at the replay, I dont think he could have scored it from where he was and the height it was. His best option was exactly what he did. That (younger) commentator is also a prick. Got on my tits for most of the match tbh. I was waiting for someone on the telly to say the same thing. It was a lovely ball. If 'Steevee G' had done it for Torres, it would have been group :omgwank:athons.
Barney 0
The front 2 were excellent. Carrols hold up play was superb and it was great to see 2 youth players starting a game and causing the opposition serious grief.

Agreed, but I'm not sure how well they complement each other, two big "number 9" style players that hold up the ball, I'd prefer to see a "big man little man" partnership upfront, someone to win the ball, hold it up and flick it on to the smaller pacier partner. Sorry Jimbo, I disagree as long as there is a bit of pace in one of them and Ranger seems quick when he goes for it. Sir Les and wor Alan or Anelka and Drogba prove with the right players it works. Now if it was Shola and Paddy K
Holden McGroin 6544
Ranger could play a bit more with his face to goal and have a go at players now and again. He certainly has the pace. Maybe it will come with confidence.
