Renton 22457
The police all carry them over in Norn Iron like. Bit strange. I keep wanting to grab one and run away. First time I went to the States, in Port Authority NY, I had a near overwhelming urge to do just that. It appeard to be alarmed though, and probably wasn't a good idea tbh. I keep wanting to grab one and run away. lol indeed and civil servants can go with them to a gun club as a guest to shoot as well.. one of my friends just started in the police over here...which for us is the oddest sight in the world considering we've seen him during his goth phase with blue hair and flame toed nu-rock boots etc etc. Now he's a shaved head like myself and walking around with the gun and baton etc. Takes it all very seriously mind, guns locked up in a safe in the house. (but his riot gear isn't and without fail someone does a darthvader/spaceballs impression every party) You even get a few a Irish Catholics in the British Army these days (from the north and the south). I bet they keep that quiet when they get home though

The ones over here have like a curled bit of wire, presumably the alarm too. It's seemingly quite strange but I suppose they've been armed over here for a long time so the lercals think it's no big deal.

I'd happily do that as a job in the states or somewhere, just not in N.Ireland (even with times being less ropey now) I wouldn't do it in Northern Ireland and I definitely wouldn't do it in the US. Fuck that shit.

There's a slow militarisation of all of the UK police going on, even PCSO's are wearing military style boots these days. Standard guns will be soon enough. What about pushing people in front of the tube or metro? I actually have to stand in the platform entrance until the train arrives as I don't trust myself. NJS 4447
When we played in Belgrade in 98, we were taken to a night club by a bloke we'd met which had a cloakroom type check-in facility for guns - scary in hindsight but it seemed "cool" at the time. The bloke was the bouncer at a pub (actually a bingo club) we'd gone to one night but it turned out he was also a bodyguard for the local gangsters. Tom 14021
To be honest I don't see a problem with it so long as it's regulated. They seem to be tasering people for fun at the moment.
Renton 22457
I don't really see much wrong with the police being armed tbh (granted they've been properly checked not to be loopers). You'll get a lot less arguments from average criminals armed with knives and bottles if someone produces a bit of firepower I think it can have a major negative effect on community policing. The solution is to compromise, give them all Tazers.
