Wasn't our aquisition of N'Zogbia equally questionable? And Jonas for that matter.....?

Didn't the N'Zogbia transfer get approved in our favour via a UEFA tribunal, and Jonas under the Webster ruling ?

I think Chelsea had been warned in the past regarding similar dealings.

The N'Zogbia got decided by a CAS decision in the end IIRC - with Charlie having to pay something like 500k and Newcastle 200k.

Manchester United could be the second of the Barclays Premier League's “big four” to be hit by a transfer ban after Le Havre confirmed yesterday that they are pursuing a “very similar” case to that won by Lens against Chelsea.

Alain Belsoeur, the managing director of Le Havre, told The Times that the outcome of the Chelsea hearing was “very important and very encouraging” as they seek Fifa sanctions against United for allegedly “stealing” Paul Pogba, the teenage prodigy.

They're not a British club though.

Can't believe Madrid haven't been done.

See this is what the Chelsea fans are saying but from what I understand, all Real Madrid were doing was publically declaring an interest in a player and forcing teams to agree to sell them their players, where in this case, Lens have not agreed to sell or release the player and he's come anyway. From what i understand.

Real Madrid's President calls players up directly, while they're at other clubs.

But those players don't play for Real until their clubs have accepted a bid...

So it's not for tapping up?

Is it for fielding an unregistered player? How did players get registered if contracts weren't agreed with the sellers? Is it not the FA/FIFA that have fucked up when that happens?

Genuine questions btw

"Tapping up" would probably be somewhat difficult to prove once the players club has accepted a bid and he has moved legally. This one would be a no brainer if he has breached a contract without all parties in agreement.

Is it only French clubs we do this to?

EDIT - we being English clubs.

It's because of the special contractual situation with young Players in France. Their youth terms include a stipulation that they have to sign their first professional contract with the club they were training with as youngsters. It was enforced to stop foreign clubs raiding French clubs and benefiting from their (what they think) superior youth system. The legality of this system got acknowledged by CAS in several cases (including N'Zogbia's).

And I think it's only English club's as they are the one's who raid French clubs most. I think Spanish clubs stopped after Valencia lost their case against Auxerre after they signed Sissoko. But I am not sure and don't know about other nations.

We'll be next, handy then that we already have a massive squad.

:(

I thought we'd been banned already :)

Wouldn't make much difference would it!

I'd be surprised if the punishment isn't reduced on appeal but given they also had the incident involving cashley cole it shouldn't be reduced by a lot, maybe just down to one transfer window.

Any money it'll only be the upcoming January window they're banned for once they've appealed.

Up to the beginning of it, right?

Maybe but I think they'll ban them for January with it being less important, i.e. as a token gesture. Chelsea probably weren't going to sign anybody in January in any case.

they've not really spent this summer though and will loose some important players to the african cup

Either way, I think they'd take the January ban reasonably pleased they'd got away with it. If they are still banned next summer it'll be a lot worse from their point of view.

I see the Sunday Sun was saying this is good news for us as they were sniffing around Vukic. Funnily enough I'd heard (indirectly) from that Money who runs the juniors that they'd made three attempts to get him from us this summer. Apparently he's rated extremely highly to the point that he's not far away from the national team despite is age and lack of games. It's belived he will be class player very shortly.

We should make a profit on him then. :baby:
