2bias 3
whats the problem? I dabble occasionally.............. I have got to create a UK Dataset. At the moment i am transfering my data but i'm not sure how to start with my file structure? I created a toolbox but don't know if i have to create another now for this project. It's just the beginning which is annoying me i know how to clip it and create feature datasets etc

wykikitoon 21492
No, my ex does though. I am a Structural Engineer and we have in our consultancy GIS peeps and I know they are busy for now and I know some others who have been laid off due to the way the construction industry has been hit. Thing is with GIS in the construction industry they seem to have long lead in times and a few projects in advance so they dont seem to be hit as quick as us, so who knows. 2bias 3
That's not good. They keep telling us once we leave the army we will find a job easy.
wykikitoon 21492
That's not good. They keep telling us once we leave the army we will find a job easy. The construction / develping industry is on its arse due to the fuck ups by the banks. Planners, developers cannot get money to develop and therefore nobody is building. The main bulk of works is by D&B Governemnt work. I.e Hospitals, Schools etc. Now, it wont stay like this forever but I can see it staying like it for another 12months easy. Not all areas in the industry are the same though. I work for a consultants and we have Structural, Civils (Drainage and Transport), Ecology, arcehology, Advanced Design, M&E etc and we (structures) are the quiet ones at the moment. Still enough to keep us busy but nothing more. But thats only us. I know some consultants who are flat on their arses. We have work overseas which is keeping our M&E guys busy. Regarding GIS, well you may get a job, you may not. Have a look on some sites for work, when do you finish by the way?

Sounds like alot of shit going on to be honest, Being in the forces sorta sheilds you from what the everyday man has to put up with on "Civi street" I finish my first course next April, then get a year to use my trade either on OPs or around UK etc. Then go on to do another year course.
