Guest Stevie
the biggest cunt of a day I've had in years. Been threatened with the sack, and the reasons given many of them I actually agree with him. Anyone got any MDMA?
The Fish 11079
Sorry to hear that fella. I was going to try and post something that'd cheer you up, but I'm stumped.
Guest Stevie
Sorry to hear that fella. Thanks Fish. I was going to try and post something that'd cheer you up, but I'm stumped. The thing is the moral in this story is, if you try to bury something you've done wrong, and don't bury it deep enough, you're fucked, and it's even worse when you pretend it will never happen. I'm surprised I'm still in employment, emotional day all round, but in a way now it's out in the open it feels better. I don't even know why I posted this. "Attention seeking etc etc" I don't even think it's that it's just to write it down. Edited August 26, 2009 by Stevie

The Fish 11079
I suppose if it (what ever it is) is as bad as you thought and you've still got your job it says a couple of things. There's someone you can trust at your place, and you're valuable enough that they did what they could to keep you.

There's someone you can trust at your place, and you're valuable enough that they did what they could to keep you. Aye true, I really wanted to say fuck off, but I thought look every accusation thrown at me is correct here, I'm not completely out of the woods, there's other stuff hidden. I should be earning 45k+, but I'm earning no where near that, because I cover the North of England and Scotland, and the shitey Midlands. Let me tell you it's fucking dead, whoever says the country is coming out of recession is an idiot, it's getting worse, I speak to senior players from leading construction companies every day, and every single day I speak to 20 people who are laying off, or have just laid off. The banks still aren't releasing funds (apart from in the South), and all the major projects are government funded. So the good thing to come out of my D Day is now I'm working Southern markets where it is actually more buoyant.
Gemmill 47111
If there's other stuff hidden, come clean with it now. If you're close to the sack today, you surely won't survive another day of revelations Either that or keep your mouth shut and start looking for alternative employment on your own terms. Working in that sector and we've already laid off a fair few this year already. Just heard that a big rival is having to cut costs too
Guest Stevie
Good luck Stevie. Hold your head up and stay in the game. Everything passes. I've been thinking of going it alone, but it's difficult in this climate. I only know four people on here personally, and I don't know about anyone else, but does anyone else occasionally get consumed by stress, where they can't switch off? Working in that sector and we've already laid off a fair few this year already. Just heard that a big rival is having to cut costs too I work for a company which focusses on high end recruiment in the constuction sector. Now this encompasses everything, rail, roads, commercial, resedential - M&E, Civils, hard services, soft services, maintenances, FM. Every fucka is cutting costs, people at the thick end of it like me, can see first hand how fucked the country is, when people in secure employment can live in blissful ignorance and I know for a fact it will get much much much worse before it will get better in the UK. All of the knock on effects of the recession are yet to come to fruition.

I only know four people on here personally, and I don't know about anyone else, but does anyone else occasionally get consumed by stress, where they can't switch off? Alex knows the details but I've been under massive stress for about 4 weeks now. I try and take it one day at a time and when panic or fear hits me I go for a walk or call a friend. Sleeping has been poor so I try and keep busy and make sure I'm tired in the evenings. Talk things through with someone you trust. I took two breaks one on a farm and another in the French countryside with friends to get away from the day to day scenario's which tend to make one feel trapped. When I feel I'm getting pulled down I try and focus on the future rather than the godawful present. Good luck mate and remember you are much stronger than you realise. The Fish 11079
Not to be Skippy McHippy, but they say the best way to stay positive is to focus for 45 seconds on one thing from yesterday that you did well, or was a success. ... actually, fuck that, go out for a pint with a couple of mates who're habitually positive, it'll rub off on you. Guest alex
You seem understandably pissed off. \my advice would be to not do anything rash Stevie. Try and have a think about your options when you're feeling a little bit calmer about things.

I'll often go home with a problem in my head then a (usually obvious) solution will pop into my head when I'm not trying to work it out. Weird how the brain works I suppose. Gemmill 47111
I'm canny lucky in that I don't really suffer from stress at work and pretty much insta forget about the place when I walk out on a night. My lass gets ridiculously stressed with work and I'm pretty hopeless as I just don't get it.

Under the threat of redundancy yet again but for some strange reason it's not bothering me this time around.
The Fish 11079
I reckon on the odd occasions I bring stress home I'm over it by the time I'm out of the shower*. Mostly the only thing that pisses me off are people being inconsiderate or useless. the work itself simply never affects me like htat. I'm lucky in that regard, I guess. My Dad used to come home stressed to the point that the best way for us to deal with it was not talk about it and go for a pint instead. British family life mate , hide it deep deep down until it eats away at you and you become bitter and resentful, only forcing smiles to make everybody's life easier. Makes you proud dunnit!
