So then, on to the end of the week latest story.

Last night, Redheugh predicted that a story would be published in todays Daily mail by Charles Sale concerning the American offer and that the law firm that Redheugh claims to work for would get a mention.

Today the following story was published by Charles Sale.

CHARLES SALE: Americans aim to scupper Barry Moat's Newcastle bid

The marathon takeover saga at Newcastle took another twist on Friday night with a New York investment fund dealing direct with owner Mike Ashley in an attempt to fast-track the sale of the club.

It has been claimed their negotiations had reached the stage of a sale and purchase agreement with the Americans, having satisfied Ashley they have the necessary £100million funding to complete the deal.

But the situation — as ever during Ashley’s regime — is by no means clear as the Americans, represented by Manchester law firm Halliwells, are bypassing the official selling agents Seymour Pierce and conducting their business with Ashley’s London legal advisers Travers Smith.

The middle man in the deal is businessman Geoff Sheard, a former commercial director at Preston, who has kept in the background to avoid any publicity after an attempt to buy Sheffield Wednesday proved unsuccessful.

Stockbrokers Seymour Pierce don’t regard Sheard as a serious buyer, having not been satisfied with his proof of funding.

But a spokesperson for Ashley said last night that Sheard’s consortium were being treated as genuine buyers, yet had ground to make up on Newcastle businessman Barry Moat’s bid.

We could discuss whether this means that Redheugh has been telling the truth all along about not only his employment, but also the americans. Its noted that Trinity Mirror who print the Chron, also print the Daily Mail in the North East, However Redheugh is just a bit player so best not to dwell.

More importantly even the most cynical of cynics must agree that something is going on.

Whether you choose to believe its one big hoax by Ashley or Fake bids by Sheard, something is definately going on and in particular, involving this law firm. Now I would assume that you dont start dropping the names of law firms into your story unless you are pretty sure of your facts.

Whether this will all lead to something, who knows, however if I was Ashley and after recent events, I would push the sale through in order to concentrate fully on avoiding jail.

Personally I got past the 'couldn't give a fuck stage' several weeks ago. This saga is just boring now, we've been promised so many times something was about to happen, that things were going on behind the scenes, that the paperwork just needed to be signed, only to find nothing happens. We're more likely to find out when Llambias has streaked across SJP with his pants on his head again than what is really going on with this "sale". I'll believe it when I see an official announcement, but not before.

Really? Because I'm not hearing anything different to the bullshit we've been getting fed by the media all summer.

Daily Mail

The Serious Fraud Office investigation into Newcastle owner Mike Ashley’s sports retail empire may also lead to the selling of St James’ Park following a year of frustration since the club was put on the market.

Ashley has told associates this weekend that he cannot afford to have the distraction of running such a prominent club as Newcastle while dealing with all the pressures on his High Street business from a high-level SFO inquiry.

As a result Ashley is expected to reduce his £100m price tag on Newcastle to force a quick sale, especially with the club going through a rare period of calm as unbeaten leaders of the Championship.

Ashley’s change of selling strategy — having previously held out for £100m — will help the chances of north-east businessman Barry Moat, who was struggling to raise the necessary funds.

But there is still a rival offer from football entrepreneur Geoff Sheard, who has the backing of a children’s charity foundation. The American directors refute the scepticism of Newcastle’s selling agents Seymour Pierce about their funding capabilities and say Newcastle would not have given them confidential data to analyse if they weren’t considered real contenders.

However, the female CEO has yet to meet Ashley.
