Toon bid hopefuls backed by New York firm

If Ashley does pull this stunt of removing us from sale after the transfer window again there has to be a concerted plan of action by the fans. If the NUSC lot can get off their arses and actually do something that would be great but someone has to show leadership and start organising demonstrations and boycotts. This will not damage the club any more than having Ashley in control will do. The man is a prick and will take us down with his complete ineptitude.

You're not a member are you?

cool, so thats "as long as someone else sorts it out, I'll be happy".

 Spot on.

Is it all right just to sign up give money and then hope that someone else sorts it out?

I think constructive criticism is fine but I just find it hilarious when people who do fuck all expect others to. Even signing up and going along to meetings etc. is doing something imo. You don't even have to sign up but at least be constructive in your criticism.

I'm gloomy about a deal happening now. Presumably anybody who was genuinely interested has been messed around too much by now and time has run out with the season under way. Shearer, Moat, Shepherd, the Yanks, the Arabs, the South Africans, the Borg, and everyone else who's been linked with us will just tell Ashley to do one and we'll be stuck with the club murderer to do more damage.

Hey ho. The best we can hope for is a Robert Maxwell type swimming incident in Hawaii.

Tbf if the Borg were in the game it would have been all over by now..."Resistance is futile"...etc..

Re-reading the article in today's Times, I missed this gem first time around....

... Ashley is concerned that in spite of assurances from Seymour Pierce, the investment bank charged with handling the sale, Moat and other potential bidders for the club do not have the money to to buy it. ...

What's the point in using SP then you fat fucking cretin!

I noticed that - either SP have "failed" to do what he asked and are trying to still get him to accept the lesser deal which is fair enough or he is basically accusing them of professional incompetence which is pretty serious.

Or SP have told him to go fuck himself and Assley being the fat cocky bastard that he is thinks he can shift the blame to them by putting stuff like that out.

Next thing we know we'll be getting sued by them for slander

Probably because you posted it the day after Keith Harris had been on the radio saying otherwise.

Not off me you didn't though, I agreed with you on SP no longer being involved or at least close to binning us.

I get the feeling Ashley is ‘shaking the tree’ to see whose money is behind the bid and if a Shepherd falls out then the deals off.

If a Shepherd falls out there'll be an earthquake with the tree as its epicentre.

There comes a point when Karma goes into reverse. All that is lost will be found. When girls hold flowers they have their mothers eyes. Those who have lost the light will see him who holds high the lantern against the hush.

O'Leary in frame for Newcastle as Ashley set to reject takeover bid

By Ian Herbert

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is considering a move to bring David O'Leary, pictured, in as manager

The prospect of Newcastle United spending the new season under the ownership of Mike Ashley and the managerial hand of David O'Leary edged closer yesterday with no breakthrough in takeover discussions with Tyneside businessman Barry Moat.

If no deal is forthcoming by the end of the week – Ashley is understood to feel that Moat and his backers are £10m short – one appears increasingly unlikely with only two weeks of the transfer window remaining for a prospective new owner to refashion the side. As things stand, the odds seem set against a deal going ahead, leaving Ashley at the helm of the club and ready to turn to O'Leary.

Uncertainty about the sale process is heightened by the lack of clarity about the price Ashley is demanding, which ranges from £70m to £90m, though there is a correlation between the number of players the club can get moved on, so reducing the wage bill, and the figure Ashley will expect. Ashley certainly seems to feel that Moat's offer is unrealistic, which has lessened the prospect of Alan Shearer being appointed manager – as is Moat's desire. An associate of Ashley's suggested yesterday that he might be at St James' Park for Newcastle's first home game of the Championship season against Reading on Saturday.

Can't say I'm surprised. The longer this rumbled on, the more it seemed like we'd end up back at square one: Ashley in charge, a paper thin squad, a cretinous managerial appointment. In fact no matter how much I hate David O'Leary, the thought remains that we could do much much worse.

Don't believe any of this, no direct quotes and they haven't even bothered with an obligatory 'ITK'. Nah, bollocks they know fuck all.

Of course that's not to say the deal won't go through I just think the last few day's have been pure speculation from the media (even more than usual).

If someone asked the worst possible scenario a year ago, this is almost exatly what you would have predicted.

Houghton as f'n manager.

Shola up front.

All best players sold.

Money received not reinvested.

Owner thinking of selling/gambling on getting promoted with Kinnear/o'Leary as temp manager and selling the club next season at a higher price.

piss.

Anyone else beginning to think this whole Barry Moat "bid" is just a ruse by Ashley to either pacify the fans or to stimulate bid from others ?
