David Nugent would be a good signing at this level, and Pompey are in freefall so would probably sell for less than what they paid for him.

yeah. lita and nugent would be decent additions. i think we really need a young whippersnapper with pace to burn and an old wiley pro to play alongside him.

 

shearer could probably still do a job in the championship if he had a pacey kid alongside him to do all his running. he'd be like sherringham the year pompey went up

I think we'd be fine if we used Carroll and Ranger, Carroll was winning most things in the air while Ranger's got good movement.

 

... still, I wouldn't say no to Beckford, I see he scored a brace in Leed's first game of the season.

Beckford is ok at League One. Ive seen him play a afew times, he is a shorter version of Ameobi. Lazy and goes down at the slightest touch. Wouldnt cut it in the Championship IMO. Proved against Millwall in the playoffs last season he cant cut it when the going gets tough. Throws his dummy out.

 

The first goal that Beckford scored...never in a month of Sundays would Shola have scored that.

I read somewhere Nugent is going to one of the promoted teams? Big waste. He'd do more than a job for us alongside Carroll and I have no doubt he'd come if we only had a proper manager.

With Carroll, Ranger, Smith, Xisco and <cough> Ameobi, I think it's more important that we get some wingers and defenders in with it looking like Gutierrez is on his way with Coloccini (hopefully) following.
