Can't believe at first I contimplated him as a decent signing because he scored free-kicks against us, he's a disgrace. He missed three bastarding chances on Wednesday, and now he concedes a penalty. Jimbo 175 Posted August 2, 2009 Share Posted August 2, 2009 final score 1-1, we concede two penalties, one by Nolan, the other by Ryan Taylor, great save by Harper for the first, but sent the wrong way for the late pen to deny us a win, sounded like we played well second half, Carroll, Barton and Smith having the better for United. JJ 0 Posted August 2, 2009 Share Posted August 2, 2009 Just back. First half was absolutely awful. Neither keeper made a save. Second half, cross from the right and Carroll goes up with the keeper who spills it, Carroll slots home. Hard to say for definite if the handball was the right decision or not, but Harper made an excellent save. Second penalty looked a little soft to say the least. Second half performance was ok. Carroll had a good game overall. Barton looked lively enough and missed a really good chance when put through. Kevin Nolan had a shot right at the end brilliantly tipped over the bar. Kadar seemed to grow with confidence as the game went on and looked good with the ball at his feet. Good goal from Carroll. Could not tell about the pens but looked a good save from Harper for the first. Jonas kept on giving the ball away though. Jose looked looked all right as well. Any word on what happened with Duff? was it a case of taken him off before he got sent off? Seemed to be a lot of toon players surrounding the ref and then duff ran off. Second half got a bit better and for spells we looked like a decent team. Thought Joey Barton, Andy Carroll, Steve Harper and Tamas Kadar played well apart from that the rest looked either disinterested or just not very good. Jonas was appalling throughout and don't know why he wasn't subbed. The travelling support were fantastic throughout with some great chants - apart from one guy who just shouted abuse at the fans/players throughout.
