Park Life 71
"Tottenham Hotspur’s attempts to sign Sébastien Bassong have been frustrated by Newcastle United’s valuation of the defender. Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager, has offered about £5 million as he chases a central defender because of several injuries, but Newcastle are holding out for more than £10 million. Bassong, 23, cost about £500,000 when he moved from Metz last year, but Newcastle are also reluctant to allow him to leave before a possible takeover because he may be wanted by the new owners. Alan Smith’s proposed move to Wolverhampton Wanderers has stalled for the same reason. " This is a little bit mad. The way money is, he should be looking to take 8-10m tops. Von ze Times.
