peasepud 59
Under the headline of "Season ticket sales up at Newcastle United" English Newcastle United has revealed season ticket sales of close to 25,000 for the upcoming season, despite reports claiming otherwise. The club unveiled the news in a website statement, as a way of clarifying speculation conjured up by the media that sales had plummeted. According to the club comments, ticket sales are rising and response to the expanded family areas has been ‘particularly strong’. Newcastle further advised that interest is increasing daily, with season ticket sales expected to climb within the three weeks leading up to the new season. It is believed that Managing Director Derek Llambias will be relieved to hear the news, as noted by The Telegraph. Since assuming the position 10 months ago, Llambias has been working to pull the club through a series of obstacles. Newcastle welcomed a string of four managers to the club during the 2008-09 season, in addition to the lashing out of fans following Kevin Keegan’s departure. Supporters have been quick to point out their discontent with owner Mike Ashley, who they deem responsible for the former manager’s vacancy. Ashley ultimately succumbed to poor circumstances, lowering his asking price to GBP 100 million. However, no buyers have issued a formal bid to date. Fans have also voiced their opinions regarding the club’s new away kit, which has since been deemed one of the worst. Commenting on the new design, Independent Newcastle United Supporters Chairman Frank Gilmore noted that the subsequent 20 percent drop in price wasn’t enough to make him purchase one. Gilmore further confirmed that Newcastle fans are refusing the buy the kit. I had to double check that I wasnt on mikeashleyisgod.co.uk
