One piece of good news

"Newcastle United can confirm that Nicky Butt requires an operation on the hand injury sustained during Saturday's 7-2 victory at Darlington."

Something to celebrate?

And on a broader note - Do we think he can do anything more useful in the CCC?

That is in no way good news.

We have a small enough squad as it is and we don't know what's going to happen with players coming and going. Plus in all honesty towards the end of the season Nicky Butt was one of the players that actually looked to give a fuck, despite his inherent handicaps.

37 year old graham alexander was one of the best DMs in the league last season

as long as he keeps himself in shape he'll be alright, certainly someone Id want to keep in the squad

I think Nicky Butt gets unfair criticism everyone gets old, its not his fault he kept getting picked and kept trying to do things he has never done all his career because the rest of the squad had no balls for the fight, or were down right utter shit.

As I've said before, if we had anyone in the team who could play football which would mean Butt wouldn't have to try, he'd look useful.

We need as many players as poss - the injury is a blow imo.

ah away and help the ginger whinger nurse his sore thumb :omgwank:

they stick it in a splint and off you go, unless hes torn the ligament in which case he's gonna need surgery, but thats one hell of an impact (skiiers thumb)

He needs surgery for a broken hand apparently. According to .com. Not sure that's the correct medical terminology like but it's obviously more serious than some people are surmising (without having assessed it obviously <_< ).
