Becoming a self made billionaire is hardly a dubious success. The bloke can't be stupid and has to recognize that he needs to get out as soon as possible. Even hiring this group to ostensibly sell the club can't be cheap.

Made a lot and lost most of it. Not really my point in any case although I think a lot can be explained by getting lucky in a time of massive economic boom. I never said he was stupid either.

None of it makes any sense.

I think he's a fucking cowboy who's lived by the seat of his pants and his luck's run out. Now he hasn't the vision to see this through but seems reluctant to take the massive hit required to sell the club for what it's actually worth now (I even doubt he'd get his money back if by some miracle we came back up or, alternatively, we'd managed to stay up and he'd decided to sell).

This whole situation sickens me... especially as I am sitting down in Portsmouth and they have just announced that the takeover has been completed and now they will be off to the races getting ready for the upcoming season... POMPEY! I drove by their ground the other day and it a fucking shit hole! HOW DID THIS ALL HAPPEN!?!?!?!

Well nobody wants Hughton and the Calderwood in charge, they are aware of that, and as last season proved changing managers in a season results in shambolic showings in the league. However, look at it from Hughton's point of view, he's been reasonably respected in the game, and was the best coach Jol said he'd worked with, but that's what he is a coach. It's not Hughton's fault he's been put in a position which at best he must be finding uncomfortable, he's just getting his head down and getting on with it with dignity and decorum. He might not even be a good communicator, or motivator, what do you want him to do leave the club and go on the dole? He is without doubt in my mind (certainly in the attitude many fans show towards him), an unsupported victim in this whole scenario. FWIW I hope Shearer keeps him as a coach.

Hughton seems a good lad and as you say is just getting his head down and making a good fist of it - don't reckon anybody could direct their ire towards either of them

People do though.

He has to be trying to sell the club, surely, anything else would be financial suicide!?!?!

There's an embargo on any players being bought or sold - so he'll be left with the unsustainable wages = he loses more money

Ticket sales are poor - he won't appoint a proper manager = he loses more money

We will not be promoted with the current set up (team/staff etc) - lower tv income = he loses money

Big brand sponsers will not advertise with a constantly crumbling mess of a club (who in their right mind would?) = he loses money

If he doesn't sell at a cut price surely the man must realise he will be well and truly fucked in the samantha janus = anus.

Aye he may have been trying to sell it but we've no idea whether the price and conditions attached to any potential sale are reasonable.

Indeed, It's seems obvious now that the price he's set is to high (if some of the speculated conditions and debts are to be believed) but if he isn't going to invest in the squad then he'll be even worse off keeping us than he would accepting a lower offer, it's fucking bizarre

I don't think I'm sticking my neck out any longer by saying this club will not be sold before the transfer window shuts, no way. Personally (and going by ashleys previous) I think the rotund bastard will be with us right up to the next one where he'll try this bollocks all over again but for less money and be offered less in return.

yay!

FOOTBALL: Hibs to name new manager at 1715 BST news conference

I'm guessing Calderwood then?

Whilst we're at it I'm hearing rumours that Middlesbrough are making an announcement at 5pm. Strachan gone?

No doubt, and Mobray in i'm sure.
