Christmas Tree 4911
:icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: Sunday Express CHELSEA are ready to move in for Newcastle United’s England Under-21 defender Steven Taylor as they prepare to sell skipper John Terry to Manchester City.Taylor – like Terry, a no-nonsense defender – was devastated by Newcastle’s relegation. Spurs also want 23-year-old Taylor, who although born in London rose through the Toon youth ranks to become an adopted Geordie. But it’s Chelsea who are poised with a £10million bid as they anticipate an increased £35m City offer for Terry – one they will find hard to turn down. Chelsea have so far rejected two bids from ambitious City, who are armed with Sheikh Mansour’s millions. But influential people at Stamford Bridge firmly believe £35m is too good to turn down. Terry, 28, is already one of the club’s biggest earners on around £130,000 a week and Chelsea will not try to match City’s offer of a £200,000 weekly pay packet. City are confident of signing Carlos Tevez from Manchester United for £25m and they will also step up their £18m chase for Everton defender Joleon Lescott. Norbert Colon 0
Apparently Terry is actually talking to city. If true football is dead. I was listening to a discussion about this on talksport with those errant wankers saggers and irani and they were going on about how no players have true loyalty to any given club and were trying to think of a recent example - fuck me you would think somebody had pissed on their cornflakes by the sound of them when a man city fan phoned up and said Alan Shearer showed he loved the toon above all else - it was classic
Guest alex
That Mark Saggers is a right clueless twat. You'd think he was playing cliche bingo at times. Anyway, whilst he's not in Terry's class and under normal circumstances I'd take £10m for him in a shot I hope this isn't true because he won't be properly replaced and the fat cunt will pocket the money. As much as i admire Stevens spirit, unfortunately, I don't think he will ever be a Mr Reliable at centreback like Terry is - decent but a bit lacking at the top level

Guest Stevie
Apparently Terry is actually talking to city. If true football is dead. I reckon without sounding pessimistic it's possible (no I haven't been doing drugs) we are coming to the end of everything, and the sad thing is if that's the case we never got to see us winning a trophy. Everything is bad in the world at the moment, 15 years ago everything seemed better, and a lot of the ills of the world are seeping in to football. When you're talking about £40m for an unproven Argentinian who I thinks shite anyway (Aguerro) you know it's fucked up. The only way football will get better is if wage caps and budget caps are implemented, otherwise football is dead officially. The whole point of football is competition. Between 1950 and 1980 there was nearly 20 different champions of English football, 1980-2009 there's been SEVEN, I don't mind when clubs win it like Liverpool did in the 70's, but when the whole thing is driven by greed at the very top of UEFA and FIFA you just think what's the point. The Champions League shouldn't even exist in my view. Edited July 12, 2009 by Stevie

The guy has scored bags of goals from a withdrwn striker role, since the age of 18, playing for a team who are nothing special and has been a regular in the argentinian squad for a good while now. He has off days sure (he is only 21 years old), and 40 million would too much (but seeing as Atletico don't want to sell they will milk it for all it's worth if they have to), but to call him shite or even unproven is ridiculous when he's clearly one of the best young attacking players in world football. It's a shame when we were successful of late we didn't have a trophy to lift.

Kid Dynamite 7257
Proved last season that hes the best young English defender in the country and hes only 22. And thats with NUFCs special brand of coaching that turns even the best players rubbish. Imagine what he would be like with a decent coach, manager and team! If he goes I hope he makes it big time

If that's the criteria then fuck me the defending coming from our young players must be poor.
Kid Dynamite 7257
Do you go to matches or do you make judgements on the radio? He wasnt out of position, he and Bassong were one of the plus points from a horrifc season at CB last year and he had a hell of a lot more than 5 good games. For someone so shit he seems to have captained England an awful lot and gained a fair few admirers.

So yes I do go to games. So Taylor playing well at right-back wasn't him out of position?
Tooj 17
He plays better at full-back because he has license to go forward and not as much defensive or marking responsibilities. And at right-back he tended to impress more going forward too.
Kid Dynamite 7257
His first ever game was at RB and hes probably played almost as many games there as he has at CB. Quick U-turn about him playing well btw. Unfortunately my £6k downpayment on my house stopped me from buying a season ticket for the first 10 games last season, I had to buy them individually instead.
