i kno theyve pretty much stolen it from the sun but found this on malaysianews.net

Malaysian media-mogul Ananda Krishnan has emerged as the frontrunner to buy relegated English club Newcastle United.

The Sun reported Sunday that 71-year-old Krishnan, who is the third richest South East Asian at 4.5 billion pounds, is likely to close the deal next week and end sportswear tycoon Mike Ashley's two-year ordeal with the club.

The daily reported the deal is likely to be sealed at 95 million pounds, 40 million pounds less than what Ashley paid in 2007 to buy the club.

Krishnan is also believed to favour Alan Shearer as the club manager and the former England captain will be given a hefty amount to use in the transfer market.

The minister also commented on business tycoon Ananda Krishnan’s reported bid for English football club Newcastle United.

He called it a “business decision” and hailed the move.

That I like the sound of.

The club needs to be run like a business, with no overspending by the likes of Shepherd, and with proper due diligence done unlike what Arsehley did.

We shouldn't have a fan run the club, as it will be ruled by the heart and not the head.

From all accounts, NUFC sounds like it's turned into an absolute shambles business-wise.

Someone with sound business sense sounds good.

From Wiki:

Tatparanandam Ananda Krishnan(born 1938) is a Malaysian businessman and philanthropist of Sri Lankan Tamil origin. Nicknamed TAK, he is currently estimated to have a net worth of US$7.4 billion[1] according to Forbes' latest annual list of billionaires, making him the third wealthiest man in Southeast Asia behind Robert Kuok and Ng Teng Fong and number 119 in the world. Ananda Krishnan is also the wealthiest Tamil in the world, ahead of Shiv Nadar, who is the 10th richest man in India.[2]

Ananda Krishnan shuns public exposure [3]and is known to maintain a low profile for a person of his stature. However, his hugely successful business activities always thrust him into the limelight and his name represents a huge business empire.

Some ITK on Skunkers recks the deal is done and the new lot are based in HK.

Who on Skunkers??

I can't get in from work

I'm banned. ;)

Here from N.O.

From Skunkers.....

The new owners are based in Hong Kong, not Malaysia. The sale will be announced tomorrow and Gianluca Vialli will be appointed Director of Football. Shearer is expected to be named manager. There will be £30 million made available for transfers.

Ashley is selling for £85 million up front with £100 million to be paid in the future in repayment of the loan. Barclays are owed £40 million which has to be paid within two years.

Our first signing will be Jermaine Beckford from Leeds - the deal is ready for signing as soon as the sale is completed.

Harper is to be made club captain and there are several offers on the table for our players including Martins, Gutierrez, Coloccini and Smith.

Meanwhile, claims that one of the bidders for United was being backed by Ananda Krishnan have now been officially denied by the wealthy Malaysian businessman:

News reports were carried on July 5 and July 6 in various newspapers in Malaysia and Singapore that Mr Ananda Krishnan or companies owned by Mr Krishnan had expressed an interest in purchasing Newcastle United Football Club and that his representatives had been engaged in talks to explore or even conclude such a deal.

"There is in fact no truth or foundation to this story.

"Mr Krishnan has not expressed an interest in purchasing Newcastle United Football Club, has not sent any delegation to Newcastle to engage in such talks or authorised any representatives to negotiate on his behalf and is not considering any such purchase.
