Besty 4
BBC wins Football League contract The BBC will show Football League and Carling Cup matches from the 2009 to 2012 seasons after winning the contract in a joint bid with Sky. It means Championship matches will be screened live on the BBC for the first time, with 10 first-choice games per season exclusively live on the BBC. The Carling Cup final will be simulcast live with Sky, and two semi-final legs shown exclusively live on the BBC. The BBC Sport website will also show goals from all Football League clubs. Director of BBC Sport Roger Mosey said: "We are genuinely excited about the potential of the Football League properties on the BBC. "Our aim in the three seasons of our agreement is a simple one: to showcase the new acquisitions across all our platforms, and to make our commitment to football deeper and stronger at every level. " Under the new agreement, Sky Sports' broadcast rights include 65 matches from the Football League, exclusively live, and the Football League play-offs - including all three finals - exclusively live. Sky will also show exclusive live matches from rounds one to five of the Carling Cup - two matches per round - and two legs of the Carling Cup semi-finals exclusively live. Football League Chairman Lord Mawhinney said: "We are delighted to be continuing our strong partnership with Sky Sports and are excited by the prospect of working closely with the BBC. "Sky and the BBC will provide a fantastic boost to Football League clubs and their supporters." The new agreements are worth £88m per season to Football League clubs and encompass terrestrial and pay television, broadband internet, video-on-demand and mobile services. Meanwhile, the BBC's other football commitments remain strong. Match Of The Day is in the first year of a new three-year deal with the Premier League. The BBC has rights to show Euro 2008 next summer, and then the biggest events in international football - the World Cups in South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7080696.stm Edited July 2, 2009 by Scottish Mag

Scottish Mag 3
The BBC's live coverage of the Championship campaign will start with Newcastle United's opening-day trip to West Bromwich Albion on 8 August. The BBC will show 10 live Championship games during the 2009/10 season and has announced details of the first four. The second will be Ipswich's home match against Newcastle on 26 September followed by Queens Park Rangers' trip to Derby on 24 October. Cardiff's home match against Nottingham Forest on 1 November will also be live. The match between the Baggies and Newcastle will be shown live on BBC One at 1730 BST. Both clubs were relegated from the Premier League last season and then experienced managerial uncertainty. Tony Mowbray recently left West Brom for Scottish Premier League side Celtic but former Chelsea midfielder Roberto Di Matteo, who guided Milton Keynes Dons to the League One play-offs in May, has now taken over as head coach at the Hawthorns. However, no firm decision has been made regarding the future of Alan Shearer at Newcastle. Shearer was in charge of the Magpies for the final eight games of last season and held talks with owner Mike Ashley about extending his stay but no decision has been reached. The Ipswich versus Newcastle also takes place at 1730 BST, although the channel has yet to be confirmed. Derby against QPR starts at 1730 BST but will be shown on BBC Two, while Cardiff versus Forest will be shown on BBC One, kick-off 1400 GMT. These matches will also be streamed live on this website (for UK users only) and all the goals from every game in the Football League, Carling Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy will be shown on the BBC website in the UK. Guest Stevie
5 out of our first 9 games are on television. As opposed equal size, equal stature, equal interest, equal focus LEEDS, who were only on live twice in their first 20 after relegation in 2004.
