Shepherd In?

Feeling massively underwhelmed by this. On a positive note, he's not Mike Ashley but then any prospective buyer has got that distinction.

On a negative note it's Ashley's predecessor who only 2 years ago had us as a stale outfit following a succession of his own fuck up after fuck up. Not to mention his health is suspect.

LeazesMag aside, I think anyone who is joyous at the prospect of Shepherd returning is evidently so desperate to see the back of Ashley, the don't care who takes over.

We could end up in an altogether bigger mess!

Ok, I hope he doesn't but it and we have MA for another 2 years. :o

For me it's partly to get shot of Ashley, but mostly in order that some order can be restored and we can get on with preparing for the season.

I'd be far more confident of a returning Shepherd getting us out of the Championship (i.e. going up) than I would with Ashley still at the helm. The latter seems to have completely lost interest and chucked his hand in regarding NUFC. And Shepherd's consortium might be the only option we have.

This for me. I'm at the stage of 'Anyone But Ashley'. At least Shepherd will have a crack at rebuilding the club, Ashley will sell what isn't nailed down and let the rest fall in.

Best case scenario might be him getting us up then another investor or investors getting involved after that. In any case it's not even worth worrying about what he might be like in the PL until the first bit is achieved.

People need to wake the fuck up, FS tried to compete at the highest level and took the risks that go with that. He made some blunders of course he did, but he was also unlucky with for instance the inj ot Luque etc...He might be a monster, but he's our monster.

Given the choice between an ambitious spendthrift who'll ruin the club and a miserly incompetent buffoon who'll ruin the club, I choose Shepherd every time. To be fair, he'd be a pretty good chairman if he left the choice of manager, the finances and the PR to someone else.

He's basically a better option than Ashley at present. Doesn't mean he didn't make some monumental fuck-ups, particularly in the most important decisions of the lot, i.e. getting the manager. Roeder and Souness in particular spring to mind as complete jokes no other PL teams would have touched at the time.

Ideally we need a couple of football heads in the boardroom.

The last bits daft though (as I suspect it was meant to be) because his biggest fault is his desire to be so hands on.

Shepherd would be a good short term fix but I can't imagine he would be any good for the long term future of the club. If we are to get anywhere decent under Shepherd he will have to re-evaluate a lot of his policies. The club will have to run properly with an idea for the future.

Still at least we know - for all his faults - Shepherd cares about the club and he would never just sit their and do nothing like Ashley has done on 3 occasions involving managers.

Did we ever adequately replace Freddy Fletcher? The man struck me as a complete shit of a human being, but he seemed to know how to run a football club. Kicking out the feckless casino manager and installing an experienced heavyweight football club executive/administrator would be a good start (and I'm not thinking of Shepherd here). We also need a football director with the stature, knowledge and experience of a Bobby Robson or a Bobby Charlton imo. Plus a decent lawyer who knows their way round players' contracts.

Fuck it, let's just start from scratch.

Aye it was tongue in cheek. I don't rate Shepherd at all or trust him. But better him than Ashley is where I'm at now.

Agree about Fletcher. Absolute cunt of a man (as the moving fiasco testified). But he knew how to run things.

I just want this whole thing sorted either way. Find the whole thing boring as fuck now.

No coffee this morning? :o

Two already.

Have some more. It'll protect you from Parkinsons. Or something ;)
