Happy Face 29
This morning the NUSC along with nufc.com, true-faith, the Mag and other supporters groups issued the following press release: Toon supporters today called for the 'immediate appointment of Alan Shearer as club manager' to send the right message to supporters and potential buyers of the club. Newcastle United Supporters Club have been joined by the Mag, the biggest selling football fanzine in the region, NUFC.com, the 'unofficial club website' that attracts thousands of hits daily, contributors from True Faith fanzine and the official Newcastle United Supporters Panel in a bid to break the deadlock in appointing the geordie legend Shearer. Colin Whittle from NUSC said 'The time has come to show the outside world that the supporters of Newcastle United are ready to move on and get behind the club. We believe that the appointment of Alan Shearer would send out a massive signal to potential buyers and most importantly, the fans who have so far been ignored'. Mark Jensen from the Mag said 'Its a 'no-brainer', the fans want Shearer and any future owners would be mad not to see Alan’s potential. By coming together, as representatives of various sections of the fan base we believe that it will send a powerful message of unity that will be picked up by potential owners'. Steve Hastie who contributes to True Faith and is also on the Supporters Panel said 'The fans need to get resolution to this long running saga. It was particularly encouraging to hear potential owners talk about official fans involvement in the club, not as a token but a true partner'. peasepud 59
What if a potential buyer didn't want Alan Shearer as manager? The fact of the matter is that we are currently rudderless and sinking fast. The word according to Llambias is that those who are pushing ahead with the purchase want him so if Llambias is to be believed then theres no problem there. If there are no buyers then this club needs a manager regardless and one which can handle the job. Having Shearer installed can only be a good thing when trying to sell the club rather than saying "look at us, we're failing miserably and we have Joe Kinnear in charge". So again, win win. Fact of the matter is, we cannot and should not continue on blindly believing that a takeover will happen tomorrow and a competent manager installed the day after. It needs doing now, it doesnt have to be Shearer but thats who the majority of fans are happy to see in the job, its who most of us believe has a realistic chance of getting us out of this shithole that we currently sit in. More importantly he has the name and the backing of fans to ensure that Season tickets get sold, shirts purchased and the future looks tempting to someone looking to buy. Norbert Colon 0
What if a potential buyer didn't want Alan Shearer as manager? What if we don't want Alan Shearer as manager? I don't have any objection to appointing Shearer - in fact he seems the only option - but this seems a bit undemocratic and i would hate to think that if there were any potential buyers that they would feel a gun to their head to appoint him when they may have an alternative
Happy Face 29
The objections seem disingenuous when the fans DO want him and the new buyers DO want him. The only problem is our preperations are being delayed by all this hanging around.

Guest alex
Doesn't really matter because if it's the same lot involved behind the scenes with the same attitude they've shown so far he won't want the job. And who could blame him for that?
Norbert Colon 0
Doesn't really matter because if it's the same lot involved behind the scenes with the same attitude they've shown so far he won't want the job. And who could blame him for that? Its a disgrace on many levels - Shearer's image has been tainted by this lot, Keegans been fucking publicly humiliated and chris Hughton is being made to look like a fuckin bumblin fool when i think he is a genuine bloke who doesn't want the shit he is gettin and then there is us lot and thats reads like a shakspearian tragedy
Guest alex
I think the (in)actions of the jokers running the show would be inexusable even if there were buyers waiting in the wings but if (as I suspect) that's bollocks then it's even worse. Fop 1
No wonder people take the piss. No one for another 2 months, followed by Joe Fucking Kinnear and a trip to League 1/the 3rd Division or liquidation is better? For example how would your club, ManUre, fair without a manager for a couple of months?
