Happy Face 29
A horrified sheriff spoke out after a 72-year-old woman who refused to sign a speeding ticket was stunned twice with a Taser gun after provoking a policeman. Video released by Travis County Constable's Office in Texas shows Kathryn Winkfein hitting the ground and moaning while the shocks jolted through her body after the May 11 confrontation with sheriff's deputy Chris Bieze. Travis County sheriff Greg Hamilton, whose office does not oversee the constables, issued a statement saying: "I do not personally agree with the actions of the deputy constable as they are shown in the video. When I look at the video I am in awe of what happened." Ms Winkfein was stopped for driving at 60mph in a 45mph zone just west of Austin. A dashboard camera in the deputy's car shows the 4ft 11in OAP refusing to sign her speeding ticket, getting out of her white pick-up truck and swearing at the deputy constable. Bieze then pushes her to get her away from traffic. "You're gonna shove a 72-year-old woman," Ms Winkfein says angrily, standing inches from the deputy. "If you don't step back, you're going to get Tased," Bieze says. "Go ahead, Tase me," Ms Winkfein says. "I dare you." The video then shows Bieze using the Taser and Ms Winkfein hitting the ground and moaning in pain. "Put your hands behind your back or you're going to be Tased again," Bieze yells, and then hits her with another jolt. Ms Winkfein was eventually charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanour punishable by up to a year in jail and fines of up to £2,500. Constable Sgt Maj Gary Griffin of the constable's office defended Bieze's actions and said Ms Winkfein was belligerent and difficult to handle. Ms Winkfein previously told Austin television station KTBC that she did not believe she deserved to be shocked. "I wasn't argumentative, I was not combative. This is a lie," she told the station. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/wor...2-14333661.html
Fop 1
She deserved to be shot and raped, should count herself lucky. In other new Labour are rolling out tazers in all nusery schools next year to combat a shocking growth in plastic spoon crime. Fop 1
"There is nobody that wanted this to happen any worse than Deputy Chris Biezley, I know that." Indeed. Quite seriously as usual in these situations the police officer completely escalates the situation initially and treats her like she was 6'5" and 300lb of pure muscle (rather a 4'11" little old lady with a shape tongue). And again as usual the worst bit is that after the initial taser (which is still complete unnecessary - if that fella can't easily overpower her then he shouldn't be a cop) he then goes for the "torture" secondary tazering to enforce "compliance". And about time too! Questioning authority will only result in a 20 year jail term though. Edited June 12, 2009 by Fop

Park Life 71
Seriously though at that age there is so much scope for mischief. I would have shot him in the face as he put his head in the window and then claimed confusion.

ChezGiven 0
So you don't believe authority should be respected? Only if you earn it. Jello Biafra once asked 'have you ever wondered why there are so many cop shows on TV?"
Holden McGroin 6958
Well, i've never had any (personal) problems with them so they've earned it for me. Seriously though, in that case above if she showed any level of respect then there would not have been an incident.
Fop 1
So you don't believe authority should be respected? Inherently? No. Why should it be? Especially if they act like that police officer? You get respect by doing things that gain respect, not by some arbitrary position (although admittedly many people in such positions do believe it is their "right"). He had about 100 ways to calm that situation down, he chose to bellow at the woman and shove her (which was about the best way to inflame it without actually just shooting her). In the end he ended up repeatedly tasering a 72 year old woman half his size for having a sharp tongue, that's a shocking ( ) failure in any terms. Happy Face 29
Mitchell and Webb had a funny skit last night (and ONLY one funny skit) where a copper was ripping the shit out of the community support officer he was working with. "I Fucking hate you" tbh it could have been any member of the public he was talking to.

Even the polite and intelligent ones can be pretty stupid. We were walking back from a restaurant along the rue de Rivoli the other week with a very very senior colleague from NY. "Oh look" he exclaimed, pointing at the cobbled street, "they've made it look old". I excused him on accout of his boffin-ness.
