ewerk 31582
The 'wages' figure can be made up of anything. In the actual accounts the Employees Remuneration is £62,327,000. What else do you think might be contained within Employees Remuneration?
Phil 6
The 'wages' figure can be made up of anything. Anything? coffee consumed? hotel rooms stayed in? that sort of thing? I was more thinking the 'golden' payments, such as a signing on fee and departure fees. Remember Fat Fred and his cronies left in them accounts...! I don't see your point about signing on fees, we're still paying that money, whether it's part of their basic salary or not. I'm not sure whether Allardyce's payoff was included under the remuneration heading.

My point is I don't buy into the myth that we have a salary bill anywhere near what is being touted around. Sure it's high for the CCC (i reckon around £35m), but using 2007/2008 as a point of reference is inaccurate as lot of the high earners are out-of-contract and some have been renegotiated (Butt, Harper & Shola). David Kelly 1280
I still don't see how we are suddenly in a shit load of trouble. Yes the income is massively lowered now we have been relegated but we aren't suddenly £50m out of pocket. The reduced income must surely come in stages and in the meantime we will be still bringing in some money (and at this stage not massively less than before especially considering the number of people who have paid for tickets in advance). And we now (or very shortly) won't be paying the wages of Owen, Viduka, Shearer, Dowie, Edgar, Lovenkrands etc. That much saving along with the parachute must be enough to allow us to pay any debts even without Ashely putting anything in. As far as I know nothing has ever been said that we weren't a going concern without Ashley's input. Edited June 6, 2009 by David Kelly

Do you think they renegotiatied Harper and Sholas contracts to reduce them? Harper had just gained first choice keeper, his would have probably doubled. Shola is obviously on more than he was in 07/08. Butt maybe took a wage cut but its unlikely to have been much.

Complete rumour but I heard Shola took a cut.
