Nah, not really, safe to say I miraculously escaped her massive gravitational pull.

We're just too similar in some reagrds and too dissimilar in others to really get on. Don't get me wrong, if she need a kidney I'd give mine up without thinking, but I know that once my parents shuffle off I'll drift apart from her.

Fuck me, what a morbid post.

Not to get preachy Fish, but you strike me as a bit of a drifter. It may feel fine now when you're in your twenties, but you might not feel this way in 10 years. I think you're a bit too laid back and could do with planning your future a bit more. Not that I really know you or it's any of my business like. :icon_lol:

Such a shame really. My mum died when I was 12. As I have a much older brother and sister they were so good to me and helped look after me. We are pretty close, though my sis drives me mad at times. Our Dad died last August after a really difficult year (he lost his mind really) my brother and I did all we could which has bought us even closer now...we have a special bond after going through all that and being with Dad when he died.

No that's fair enough, I should really have sorted out a career path and all that. I guess I'm just enjoying myself at the moment, don't have any responsibilites and there's no real urgent need for me to settle down.I think if I was still casual like this in five years time I'd be concerned... to be honest if I'm still like this in 2 1/2 years time I'd worry. But right here, right now, I'm going to enjoy the fact I live in a country that affords me comfort, with good friends and nothing hanging over me. Obviously if something dramatic were to happen dumping a responsibility in my lap I'd sharp need to change my tune.

but thanks for the concern.

p.s. when your problem is that you're really laid back, it's very difficult to care when people say that you're too laid back :icon_lol:

As would I. It's the difference between unconditional love and unconditional tolerance :icon_lol:

It's not that we argue, don't really care about that, it's who she is as a person. I'm honestly closer to friends that I've only known 5 years, than I've ever been with her.

It is a shame. I talk to mates about their family and the way they talk about the relationships they have with their siblings makes me feel like I've missed out on some secret club. The way they travel the length and breadth of the country to spend some time with their brother or sister, when I can hardly stay in the same room as mine.

This is like Loose women or something... I'm off to put up a shelf

I see they are finding quite big bits- should make it easier to figure out what went wrong............

What's your view on what happened?

Sounds like turbulence, electrical storm. some systems failures, jet upset (at that height and speed the margin are pretty small), dive in the dark, structural failure, decompression, break up

I realise your not adressing me, but I would be having a good look at the personal lives of the pilots, including any financial, religious, and partner issues they have etc. The last time a plane went down mid Atlantic like this was an Air Egypt flight iirc where the muslim pilot went fruitloop and committed mass murder along with his suicide.

They really have to find the black boxes though, without that I don't think this case will be solved.

Why no SOS from pilot, or attempt to call anyone?

Unprecedented in a modern large jet liner.

Lightning strike knocked out the power

Those plane have little propellers which drop down if the power goes and act as mini electricity generators.

It must have been a bizarre set of events.

1. there is no such airline

2. you are thinking of Flight 990 (MSR990) was a regularly-scheduled Los Angeles-New York-Cairo flight. On October 31, 1999 where the relief first officer may (no solid evidence) have deliberately crashed the plane

3. just before that Swissair had a plane crash due to on board electrical fire

4. I'm sure the French will completely "Persil" the crew and passengers

Well I did watch an hour long documentary on it, and there was a hell of a lot of evidence to suggest it was suicide, overwhelming evidence in fact once they retrieved the cockpit voice recorder (and a lot of circumstantial evidence from his personal life). Not surprisingly the Eqyptian authorities wanted this covered up and blamed Boeing.

The Swissair flight has been completely explained and has no similarities to this or the present incident, I don't know why you've brought that up.

well there was a lot of bias on both sides TBH

Boeing had a vested interest in blaming the crew as no-one wants to buy jets that suddenly nose dive into the ocean (and don't forget they have previou son versions of the 737 which would suddenly execute an un-commanded roll (Air Alaska and one in Colorado for a start).

The Egyptians didn't want to be thought of as full of Moslem lunatics

The flight recorder seemed to show a direct control input but I don't think the Americans found an Arabic speaker who agreed with their interpretation of the cockpit recorder

Sometimes pilots do deliberately crash planes - there were insurance cases in Indonesia and Korea IIRC

The Swissair crash was EVENTUALLY explained - but to start with they didn't have much more to go on than we have now TBH

That's simply not true Rob. The Swissair flight happened just off the coast of Newfoundland (not mid altlantic), it happened over several minutes where the pilots were in full communication with the control tower and reported smoke in the cockpit, and they were attempting to land. Furthermore, as it crashed in relatively shallow water the black boxes were retrieved very quickly (which were pretty useless as they had shorted, but the rest of the wreckage was recoverable). Although the exact cause of the fire was unknown, even in the very early stages it was known that the crash was basically caused by an onboard fire wiping out the plane's electronics. So not really similar at all.

The Egyptian crash was suicide beyond any reasonable doubt.
