Craig, what's the rush?

Needs sorting so whoever is in charge can get on with the massive amount of work that is needed.

If Shearer is being 'wide of the mark' and there's absolutely no way Ashley can accept his demands then surely it'd be in the best interests of all to cut ties and move on to find whoever it is who will be trying to lead us in the championship.

They've had a week and surely that's enough to iron out the finer points. My fear is that they're poles apart on what's acceptable and Ashley is persevering with trying to find an agreement as he fears the backlash from us.

Or Shearer's lawyers are ensuring that the contract reflects the agreed discussions around what the club needs financially and who will take the decisions (having learnt from the Keegan fiasco) making it a highly complex legal document?

Perhaps, could be a lot of things.

More time wasting and more targets slip through our fingers - conspiracy theorists may take the view that this is the point but if Ashley fucks this up there can be no return - unless its to do with a takeover?

That's pretty much what I'm seeing at the moment, I mean seriously, does it really take this long to iron things out? A takeover's likely to knacker next season up as much as Ashley not doing anything just because it'd mean dragging everything out while it gets sorted as well... with every day that passes a good position in the league gets further from our grasp imo.

I don't think much work will be done on the team in the next few weeks by anyone either way. Anyone involved in football is either on a sunny beach or will be on their way to one come 5pm on Saturday.

There's no need for 'talks'. It's one talk, Ashley should say "yes we want you to stay on, this is what we're offering you, yes or no." If Shearer disagrees, they can compromise. A day tops.

One week is just crazy.

If only football was like that though

AS is more head than heart. Makes sense.

The only thing that could be holding things up is a takeover or money coming in as partnership in the club. Someone checking the books etc.

There you are, now you know.

Hope you're right bud
