Tooj 17
Highest ever attendance for a team relegated in the history of English football this year like. 7000 more than Man United had. Seriously man? What is your great obsession with attendances? To me it's something we seem to use to have a pop at other fans for, if we won trophies there's no way a lot of our fans who seem to have this obsession with attendances would even mention it. Not a fucking chance. I know our core support is great, so I don't give a fuck what fans of any teams think. I read it on .com tbh. Wind your neck in. Why mention it though? You always seem to harp on about our attendances. It's something I really don't get.

Tooj 17
Look at the post above Jonny I am looking at it thank you very much. Like I said to me it seems our fans use it to justify us being a big club due to our lack of silverware recently. I could be wrong of course. Tom 14013
Jonny you're in snipe mode, which for one makes you a hypocrite and secondly it makes you tedious as fuck. I'm not biting because I'm not fussed, look for pastures new.

Tom 14013
You asked a question and I answered it. You cannot genuinely derive a persons interests from a internet post, I have probably had about one or two real conversations about it in my life. Pissing about on the net is different, it's more a boring One-upmanship. I'm not that fussed.

Suraj182 0
What I wrote on the survey in the other thread: I think it's due to the fact that we're never satisfied with who we have in charge, some people like to call us fickle, we've got a joke of a club currently, we had high aspirations in the pre-season and we have a number of fans who perhaps are deluded compared to the average fan, the media's perception of us seems to be the whole "deluded Geordie thinking we're a big club" but in reality, only a few supporters are like this. There's not much you can do to change this, there'll still be the Toon Ultras, protesting at every appointment/sacking/bad result, the Media isn't going to pick out the average supporters to interview, it'll always be the ones who draw conversation and there's not much you can do to change their display of you. I think it's also because we play shit football. It's the same reason I dislike Middlesbrough, Hull, Stoke etc.
Kitman 2207
I think a bit of stability would help. We wouldn't be so interesting to the press if we weren't continually in crisis. We've been a circus for the last 10 years, with Shepherd & Hall's PR efforts, Dalglish & Yeading, bad boys like Dyer and Bellamy and Barton, Souness, money spunked on high profile flops, injury crises, the club raided by the police, Keegan's walk out, Ashley's attempt to sell up, etc. Then in addition Sky show charvas or topless pot bellies as representative of the fans. Plus continuing loyalty in the face of incompetent management and overpaid gutless players and terrible football. Now we've been relegated. If the club was run properly we wouldn't be such an easy target. Edited May 29, 2009 by Kitman
trophyshy 7084
Our large support and total lack of trophies is an easy equation for derision. Sells papers, gives the masses an extra option for banal conversation. Edited May 29, 2009 by trophyshy
Billy Castell 0
I think its because media like SSN always seem to find the fans outside the ground who are deluded tools, who are the most likely to spout off about supposed Messiah's and protest whenever Keegan gets sacked etc. The more down-to-Earth fans are probably edited out for being too normal. It gives that impression you are all fickle, impatient fools who will forgive their favourites for anything, but comdemn someone who is not 'one of you'. Suraj182 0
Definitley, the sane, normal fans don't make good TV apparently, it has to be the rednecks of the Newcastle fans that make the cameras.
Craig 6700
The real reason is media fuelled. IMO the Oliver clan have a lot to answer for. Blimey... Ashley has started culling staff at SJP, with Operations Director David Williamson and Head of Media Gary Oliver among those to be axed this week. Oliver Snr. will be gutted. Craig 6700
from .COM You'd think an FA Cup final between Chelsea and Everton would be an irrelevance to us. Well, apart from former Magpie loanee Louis Saha scoring the fastest ever Cup Final goal (25 seconds), you'd probably be right. You'd also think that the relegation of Newcastle United to the Championship would be an irrelevance to Everton. Apparently not. The Toffees inexplicably celebrated their place in Europe and finishing fifth in the Premier League after winning at Craven Cottage on the final day of the season with choruses of "Cheer up Alan Shearer".... Amazing. Yet another set of supporters who seem unduly concerned with matters on Tyneside, despite their fans jamming phone-ins to inform the nation that Newcastle aren't a big club. You can't have it both ways.

Tom 14013
Sad bastards . Tom 14013
I have been through about 10 or 12 Championship Boards in the last hour and it's sad how these people believe every media cliché going. I'm sure those who meet real fans next season will change their opinions but it's sad how they can get wound up about ''delusional geordies'' whilst being completely wide of the mark themselves. Most forums seem to mention our ''15 or so players on £50k+ '' too. Even though it is a blatant work of fiction. As well as other classics like how we ''forced Allardyce out'' and how we ''only want a Geordie as manager so we can call him the messiah'' and how the fans run the club
Craig 6700
Tell you what, if it had been someone else instead Keegan coming in (who none of those baying for Allardyce's blood had any thought that it'd happen), no one would be banging on about us forcing Allardyce out. They were busy pointing out how shit Big Sam was for us... who remembers the "Big Sam for England!" chants when Liverpool played us at home?
