The Fish 11068
been to a few afc games and what stevie says is right. most of the fans are southwest londoners that have given up on the molesey/ walton and hersham/ kingstonian/ staines and sutton utd type of team (the ones that yoyo from conference to lower non league status.). I hope they get a ground but from what i understood the greyhound track was to be demolished and turned into a tesco extra or something like that. I also beleive wimbledon council are not going to let this ride, and that afc are going to be stuck in the kingstonian ground for a while yet the nature of wimbledon as a place is that its not got much free space and the locals never really liked the ground being there when wimbledon were (relatively) successful. the standard of football from what i have seen afc play over the last couple of years is absolutely shite. Its negative and the fear of losing is what drives teams, not playing good football. I wouldn't have said they played any more negatively than the teams around them. It's hard to play flowing football when your opposition is intent on an aerial bombardment and a ground game that more closely resembles trench warfare than football. They've played football that's got them out of obscurity and into the conference, so it can't be that negative.
JonGoodwyn 1
If they want to get promoted they'd certianly need to either change ground or update their stadium quite a lot, kingsmeadow barely qualifies for the BSP conference as its mostly terraces - I guess it would be a bit like the situation Stevenage were in a few years ago, when they were in a promotion position but weren't promoted. An AFC (and about 3 other clubs) supporter I know seems to think they don't want to get promoted yet, as they've exceeded all expectations and still want to remain semi-pro for at least a bit longer. The lads I've spoken to say the same, it's not that they wouldn't be over the moon with another promotion, but they want strong foundations so things don't crash about their feet
tinofbeans 91
with the current team they have, they won't get promoted this year, not a chance. give it 2-3 years at the very least.

They've ditched nine of their players and are looking to get young professionals
