JJ 0
Go get James McArthur from Hamilton Accies. Excellent young player who could do a job right away so you're not just buying for potential.

Barney 0
It's going to be quite difficult to sign the right type of player here. Â We need to be looking at players to get us straight out of the Championship and that can play in the PL. Â That rules the likes of Chopra out. I think we need to try and set the bar high, as opposed to looking at League 1 players.

Paul Hartley, at 32, isn't the sort of player we can take in and - if we do bounce back up - have any use for the season after. If we're going to raid Celtic, Scott Brown would be a far better choice. However, I'd be surprised if any of them are that upset about Strachan leaving that they'd forfeit CL football for Championship stuff.  JJ, I presume you think we have no chance of going for James McCarthy. I always hear rumours of teams like Celtic and Liverpool being interested but I don't know if anyone's actually made a bid for him.

TicTacWoe 0
As I said before Gunnarsson from Coventry, recently voted their player of the season, young but has experience, taelnted, versatile, longer throws than delap to stick on Carrolls head, scandinavian so wont mind the weather, is 21 so will only get better, means we wouldnt have to play Butt. Turned down Liverpool 2 or 3 years ago because he knew it would be ages (if ever) before he could get into the first team. The only team that's sniffing around right now is Celtic, but he says he wants to play in the Premiership. No harm in coming to Newcastle and helping us get back up. He's still a teenager, so there's no rush.

The messenger 0
You can probably loan and develop a few youngsters for us. Bannan, Albrighton, Delfouneso, Clark, are all probably good enough to help you fight in the top.

DannyBoyFromOz 0
Anyone mentioned that Beckford lad from Leeds? I see he's now on the list, after rejecting an extended contract. Scored 27 (I think) goals this season. Anyone know owt about him?? Talking to a Leeds fan today and he doesn't rate him too highly. Spoke better of Delph and very highly of someone called Snodgrass. Â Couple of Leeds fans I know rate him highly and are very pissed that he's rejected a new contract. Surely cant be worse than Stroller

Jimbo 175
Middlesbrough have joined the race to sign Jordi Gomez from Espanyol after he excelled on loan at Swansea last season. The Barcelona-born midfielder impressed in the Championship and that form has alerted a host of clubs so Boro would face a battle with Newcastle and Celtic to land the player who is rated around the £3m mark.  Swansea have not yet given up hope of taking Gomez back to Wales, though manager Robert Martinez stresses that the Swans do not have the financial capabilities of getting involved in an auction.  Martinez said: "We're desperate to keep Jordi but in reality Espanyol will be looking for the highest bidder.  "It's not within our means to try to compete with other clubs in financial terms. We are realistic and know that in the modern game finances play a big part."

Montrose_Mag 0
Well a few people have said that looking for the relatively cheap Scottish players might be a good option instead of paying an inflated fee for the equivelant English players. So thought I would lay out a list of Scottish based players we could realistically sign, that would also be good for the future of NUFC.  Leigh Griffiths (Livingston) - Young striker playing for an unfashionable club, has bundles of potential and at only 18 looks sure to have a very bright future ahead of him. Livi have severe financial problems so have put a fee of only £100,000 on him, buttons for a prospect.  James McArthur (Hamilton) - Not the player that has been linked with Liverpool and Celtic repeatedly, but this player is a tenacious midfielder with that bit of snarl that likes to cover his back four. Would most likely jump at the chance to move to the NE and unlike Butt and Nolan he can pass a ball.  Paul Dixon (Dundee United) - If we don't manage to hold on to Enrique then we could do with an attacking full back like Dixon who gets up and down the wing all day and also has excellent delivery.  Lee Wallace (Hearts) - Left back again, who doesn't get half the credit of the winger infront of him (Driver), but while Driver reminds me of Gutierez in the fact that he can take a man on but his delivery is terrible. Wallace is the player who has always stood out for me, he is a player I would reckon is Premiership bound in the future.  Andy Dorman (St Mirren) - Midfielder who has a pearler of a left foot, of the players mentioned so far he would be the riskiest one as I haven't seen him as often as I would've liked but what I have seen he seems to have the ability to change a match.  Bobo Balde (Celtic) - Big strong defender who is out of contract so wouldn't require a fee, was frozen out at Celtic by Gordon Strachan for reasons unknown, but under Martin O'Neill was a collosus. No nonsense type player of which we could be doing with.   Well anyway, feel free to shoot down any of them but when I see people suggesting Jason Scotland who was never that good a player up here then it makes me think if any others could make a big impact if they moved.
