Who's going to sign Owen?

He's as responsible for our demise as the rest of them. IMO he's proven he's no longer a Premiership player so perhaps the Championship (and their wage structure) is his best option?

Wouldn't at all be surprised if he did retire mind.

What a gross over-reaction. He'll find a club, most likely even a decent who will take the chance. With better players around him he'll most likely look a decent player again. I won't miss him though.

I don't think it is an over-reaction. He's been awful for a long time now. And now he evidently doesn't feature in Capello's plans, I think his mojo could well be gone for good.

Bollocks, he still looked kind of prolific at the start of the season and was very good at the end of last. With decent service and some confidence he'll rather quickly find his mojo. Won't be a 100k a week mojo though.

Kind of prolific? Distinctly average IMO.

I agree with Wacky. I think he'd prefer to get paid than get played. The way he wanders about the pitch screams of a man who has fallen out of love with football. Once that's gone, he'll be after dollars and dimes, and he won't get those playing at a half-rate premiership side, a half rate premiership side in the championship or the Scottish leagues either.

It's the US for him.

Can't really see MON or Lerner stumping up the cash for Owen. Hasn't the pace, or the power to fit into their plans for Villa

It's an interesting question. On the one hand he's motivated by money, on the other hand he wants to play for England. He might be as washed up as Geremi due to his injuries. Who is going to be big enough for Wor Mickey, prepared to gamble on his fragile body AND pay him enough money to feed the horses? I could see him warming the bench for some big foreign team but I can't for the life of me think of anyone who'd want to sign him now. He might finally need to take a massive pay cut, the greedy bastard.

I can see a reunion with Heskey at Villa

This:

either that or Everton or Man City, at Everton he'd be in competition with Saha for who'd be injured the most.

He'll be scoring goals for a few years yet.

Never wanted to be here from day 1. Apart from the cash, obviously.

Multiply that by eleven and you get a team that goes down without a fight when even just a draw will save them.

Moyes favours a one up front formation with Cahill or Fellaini playing off them. That role doesn't suit a can't-be-arsed shorty.

Some fucker has been quick on wiki.

Michael James Owen (born 14 December 1979) is an English football forward who currently plays for and captains English Championship side Newcastle United. He is currently the fourth-highest scorer for the England national team with forty goals.

Danny?

Because of his fragility and lack of outright speed, his only position is in the hole as he did for us second half of last season (with a bit of success as well if you all remember). he still times his runs well, but just can't get past the quick centrebacks any more. wherever he goes he'll want the number 10 shirt as well. so it won't be man city!

Frankly though i am struggling to see where he'd play, he'd break the promoted teams wage structures so thats them out, he's too expensive for spurs and everton and blackburn, wigan as well. villa could afford him but he's not going to get into that team (set up as they are for counter attacking football).

maybe abroad?

I don't think he's going to not play somewhere just because he'll have to take a pay cut.

I can see a few teams offering him £50k + bonuses...that's still worth getting out of bed for tbf.

(just )
