She's a mackem, and she was a smokeshow, but fuck me the stuff she does to this bloke. He's got cameras in the house so there's footage of it. Horrible bint. i watched the first episode last night then went to bed. The mrs carried on and 5 mins later I get a text: “oh my god, she has just shit on his head”.

Gemmill 44784
Aye, they didn't have video of that incident but he somehow volunteers it. Classic mackem behaviour. It's genuinely distressing some of the video stuff. One of the female coppers starts crying at one point when she's interviewing him. The wife is fucking horrible. You’re not really selling it to me like I looked it up and she sounds absolutely evil. It’s quite shocking to think she’ll be out before long. Because it’s difficult to imagine people like that ever change
Gemmill 44784
Aye, from the video of her police interview, there's no way she'll change. I assume she's been brought up in a house like that cos a lot of the stuff on the videos where she's laying into him takes place in the kid's playroom and they're around the violence and the swearing. Gemmill 44784
Minor spoiler, but it's not a big attack or anything that makes the copper cry. The bloke explains how, when he can see things are escalating, he would go and change into a press stud shirt cos then his clothes wouldn't get ripped. The copper explains that it's the small details of abuse like that, a bloke so defeated that he dresses for a hiding, that get to you rather than the injuries and stuff. Any better job of selling it?
Alex 35055
It’s definitely an interesting subject probably because it’s still a taboo one. And when it’s a female doing it to a male it’s even more so. It just sounds depressing as fuck to watch. Especially with the kids being witness to it. What strikes me as well is the shame the victims often feel, to the extent they blame themselves and cover up for the perpetrator.
Alex 35055
Btw, has anyone watched the series about the music of 1971 on Apple TV? Quite fancied it but sometimes this sort of thing can make events fit their narrative. I.e. how revolutionary the music was in that year, I’m guessing. Plus it features Elton John. Dr Gloom 21911
It’s a hard one to get your head around. Most men have a physical advantage over women so how does a bloke find himself physically abused by his Mrs? If he defends himself, you’d think abuse stops. It’s must start with verbal/emotional abuse

It’s must start with verbal/emotional abuse Aye, I got the impression with this bloke that the line had shifted massively throughout their 20 years together. But centimetre by centimetre so he just kept adjusting to the new normal. He mentions that she is funny and sarcastic, and on the night they met she was stood taking the piss out of him with his mates (you'd never put them together looks wise, so he was quite happy to take it). So I think it started from minute one, and the line never stopped moving.

It's often a long process, where someone's confidence and self esteem is chipped away at day by day. I meet loads of DV victims through work and it beggars belief some of the stories you hear and people still refuse to leave their partners

If he stands up to her and uses his natural advantage, he risks ending the relationship.

The bloke in the show didn't strike me as ever being the dominant personality in the relationship. I also feel he's not completely blameless in allowing his kids to witness that behaviour over years. They're going to undoubtedly grow up damaged

It was absolutely tragic and didn't have a happy ending But like you, I didn't get why he didn't protect the kids who were indirectly abused. That would be the final straw for me, no matter how much I loved her. Also having kids through IVF is incredibly hard practically, emotionally, and financially. I don't understand how they managed this three times without supporting each other. I don't think we've been told the full story tbh.

Is that the one with the main lass as an Asian woman copper? Im not a fan of copper shows at the best of times, but if it’s the same one, it was fucking atrocious Mrs. F. made me watch an episode - two blokes were accused of killing/kidnapping some Asian lass. Wasn’t them. Ray solved it through sheer determination and some terrible writing. At least I think that was what happened- it was hard to follow the story because of all the “ SHE’S AN ASIAN WOMAN COPPER!” bits that were shoehorned in every 30 seconds. 8.7 my hairy arse.
