Now there are dozens of characters (most of which you need to pay to unlock). Fuck off, my brain can't handle it. Just stick with the classics. Although perhaps resist the temptation to reboot/remake films based on a single character dozens of times over (Spider man). The spider man versions are the most consistently good tbf, at least the first films for Maguire and Garfield and all of the MCU films. The fact that we’re going to have 2 active batmans (three if they inexplicably do something with clooney after flash) and potentially three jokers at once is too much mind you. I’m getting on now and want one person playing one version of each character. Edited August 7 by Dazzler

Thing is, the classics like X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spider-Man had either already been done (to varying degrees of success), or were owned by other studios. Branching out into B-tier characters was the best idea Marvel had. Now, however, they're rooting around in the B-Tier box and just pulling any old shite and trying to force a connection to current stable, without thinking about anything else. 22 minutes ago, Dazzler said: The spider man versions are the most consistently good tbf, at least the first films for Maguire and Garfield and all of the MCU films. The original Superman film, Burton and Nolan's Batman movies aside, everything from DC has been fucking terrible.

Well, I want to resist getting into a discussion on this but iot is clearly a case of diminishing returns. Iirc nearly all the Marvel films are loss making nowadays so I expect the franchise will simply end. Thank God (imo). As for your last line, one of the few films in this genre I have liked at all was Joker. Thought that was superb actually, Phoenix was brilliant in it. I always prefer films from the baddy side or about anti-heroes. Edited August 7 by Renton

The Flash was okay - the CGI was hilariously bad at times but it was a decent attempt at the flashpoint story. Bringing back Keaton as Batman was a smart move but they ended it with Clooney being Affleck's replacement - which I think was nothing more than an easter egg. You should watch the suicide squad reboot and peacemaker series though - both are really good - effectively R-rated Guardians and a hard reboot of the universe. I think Gunn's vision of the DC universe stands to be everything the latest phases of marvel should have been based on the initial offerings. Renton 21974
Oh, I loved the Dead Pool films too. A bit of humour helps a lot. Also liked Kick Ass if that counts, and Sin City. For me, I think the films need to be standalone. Am I fucked spending my energies on trying to understand an alternate Universe with these silly characters. Aye but it’s an alternative version of earth in a different universe. Like a version of earth where every human is a hitman and John Wick just happens to be the hardest one for some reason. Or any film where a white person joins a native population as an enemy, only to eventually become their saviour; Lawrence of Arabia, Last Samurai, Last of the Mohicans, Dances with Wolves, Dangerous Minds, Blind Side. Avatar. Any film where there's a parking space right outside where the character needs it Nobody ever going to the toilet Any romantic comedy, ever Any film where the only thing the girl needs to do to become suddenly hot is take off her glasses. Any film where the police are competent

Farage should be imprisoned for his perpetual hate speech and social media needs to seriously reconsider its ability to foster and sustain bubbles of hatred. Migration is only going to continue as our attempts to mitigate climate change have been pathetic and inequality expands. The countries that can afford to adapt will look increasingly attractive to those that can’t. We need humane and realistic solutions to this. Anger in the UK should be directed toward those who have exploited, divided and lied to us for generations. Not people who are, mostly, just seeking a half-decent life. 3 stars. Ayatollah Hermione 14042
Started watching Sunny atm. Not It’s Always Sunny but the new Apple TV thing with Rashida Jones. So far, it’s a light sci-fi with a mystery attached and it’s not bad at all. Doesn’t get anywhere near the heights or style of Severance but if you like that sort of thing, it’s an easy binge

Kid Dynamite 7166
Daughters. Documentary on Netflix about a scheme in the US prison system where Dads get a chance to have a prom night with their daughters. This prison has stopped all face to face visits and charged families for video calls, so some of the dads haven't seen their daughters for years. Started slow but when it got to the night of the dance I was in absolute pieces. Edited August 21 by Kid Dynamite

Gemmill 45988
Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War is a new docudrama on Netflix. Narrated by Ed Harris. Starts with the Gunfight at the OK Corral and picks up the story after that. It's canny if you like a bit of western action. Dramatised bits interspersed with patter from historians and authors.
Toonpack 9905
Binged Daredevil, Disney channel. Season 1 - enjoyable escapist nonsense. Season 2 - 50% good (Punisher half) 50% utter shite (Electra half) Season 3 - better story, but fuck me, Daredevil should be called wimpdevil (copyright Mrs TP) what a fucking big girls blouse. Just kill the cunts man, knocking them out just isn’t going to cut it, they’ll wake up and just cause more carnage. Seriously rivalling Batman for shitest super hero.
