That episode made me feel really anxious tbh. Not sure someone of your constitution managed it

My anxiety was through the roof tbh. But at the same time, was reassuring to realise other families are more fucked up than mine and that mental illness is basically everywhere.

Guests it's also a testament to the writers and actors they invoked this feeling of anxiety over a family Xmas dinner in a way Oppenheimer didn't. Uncomfortable viewing is often the best.

Man for what little it's worth, my anxiety has been through the roof since we moved house at the start of the year, probably wouldn't take much to tip me over the edge just now but I'm being a stubborn fucker and refusing to take any SSRI's because I hate the bastard things.

Mental illness is indeed fucking everywhere. I think the biggest problem is that most folk (especially men) just don't talk about it, which I'm also guilty of.

Ta for the heads up, though. I think I'll give that show a swerve for now.

The MayFair Set (1999)

4 episodes in total. Lots of dodgy dealings/arms/Arabs and money/tax/corruption.

S1.E1 ∙ Who Pays Wins

Sun, Jul 18, 1999
SAS founder David Stirling tries to restore Britain's declining power in the 60's by supplying weapons to Middle Eastern countries in exchange for influence with local royalty, and a chance of attracting the oil millions to London.

Charting the rise and fall of the takeover tycoons, who would buy up shares in secret, mount a hostile takeover, sell-off the loss-making parts, and watch the share-price soar. As long as the stock-market boom lasted, that is.

How Jimmy Goldsmith introduced UK-style corporate raiding to America, just as Reagan took the brakes off the capital markets. The result was so-called 'downsizing', junk-bonds, insider dealing and a few jail sentences.

End of the glory days for the big beasts of 70's London, now embittered by the corruption that is poisoning politics and business. Fayed, Goldsmith and Rowland all try to revenge themselves on the Tories.

I haven’t seen it but it’s Adam Curtis so it’s probably really good. It’s on iPlayer too. Not that I’m particularly convinced our pugilistic friend has watched it (or is indeed real) off the back their recommendation

Need to get on Silo. I'm fucking loving Top Boy. Just the last season to go.

Absolutely convinced I could have made it big in the world of London high rise drugs gangs. Lamenting the missed opportunity.

What's Silo on?

And despite your braggadocio you are at your core, a bottom.

As for the rest of your post, expect a visit from my aassociates. They will be black so please try not to be racist.

Is that spelling deliberate? Because, they're their to assist every time you have one of your breakdowns?

DNA on iplayer is canny. Danish scandi-noir thing. The usual tormented scruff detective. But it's pretty well done. Two seasons of it, I'm watching the second one now.

No tits, for those that need that sort of thing from their scandi shows.

Silo is good. I watched it on release so had to wait a week between episodes but the plot is quite complex and more suitable for a binge imo.

Just finished S3 of the Boys. This is how Marvel should be. Easily the best thing on right now, Alright, they're fucking around with the plot to allow for sequels but I want those sequels anyway. Also like the way it is becoming a satire of the current US, only a bit more plausible then the reality in some ways.

And now I am fresh out of TV to watch. Any suggestions, preferably of a Sci Fi / horror bent or gritty "real life" drama. None of your detective shit please or stuff about millionaires.

You're welcome. Set in The Boys universe. Just landed on Prime.
