Loads of potential for complex plot development but you never know with these things. Netflix has obviously invested massive amounts into it (all the documentaries on DMT etc now make more sense but its not about that). The scenes require the actors to be in different places at the same time and they have shot the lot on location, so its no expense spared by the looks of things. Got shadowy organisations, conspiracy and intrigue. Couple of the characters are a bit irritating but if you like the sort of genre it is (sort of sci-fi but not really) then you'll probably like it. But when the person you're trying to encourage as a viewer is only half watching it while they're looking at their phone, it doesn't really grab the attention back tot he big screen. You should definitely give it another go. It is a slow burn but I honestly think it is my favourite ever TV drama. I can't think of another show that has as many compelling characters as The Wire. Justified is the only one I can stomach but that is cartoonish by comparison. The killing looked like it might be OK but quickly went to shit. Still not watched true detective like.
