Xisco and Nolan. Could have nearly had Modric for them two alone.

Xisco.

I remember reading something about him in Marca where they were basiccally saying how average he was but a trier.

I'm not sure Modric would have come

He went to a training session with KK then didn't fancy it.

Not sure he would be enough anyway, whole new midfield needed TBH.

Jonas gets far too much stick. Its his first season in the Premier League and hes the only player ive even remotely enjoyed watching this year. He never goes hiding, does more defending than the majority of our defence and skins full backs time and time again. Hes in the Argentinian First XI FFS

Owen duff jonas

The first for the price / injuries, the other two for their impersonation of creative players.

Personally, I would have Nolan and Taylor above both of those for their impersonation of footballers

Taylor looks every inch the £750k footballer tbh. And if you're on about anyone in the current squad and not just recent signings it's obvious Owen has been crap value for money but so has Martins.

I agree. You'd think the other players in the team would get close to him when he goes on a run though, given he struggles to knock it more than 5 yards at the end of one of his mazy runs. Maybe they can't keep up with him.

Thought Duff was one of better players in the first half yesterday. Glad to see Shearer learnt everything he knows from his predecessors about bringing players back from injury too early

I think Duff's done alright lately but that's partly down to LB being his best position these days. Harsh on Shearer if I've understood you correctly though.

duff didn't look too bad at left back. bearing in mind enriques prob out for the season, i reckon he could do a job for us.

he's lost a load of pace mind. and his confidence is clearly shot.

my top 3 are

Rtaylor. shit footballer. no confidence when playing for us.

Staylor. simply not good enough.

Viduka. how much do we pay him. and for what.

honorable mentions go to

Owen. it could have been so different had he not had that injury.

colocinni. not a premiership player. too slow at this level.

martins. a sprinter that has 2 tricks and can kick the ball very hard but completely innacurately. not a footballer.

barton. jailbait. good player if the mood takes him.

smith. fucking awful player that doesn't know his best position.

I just cant see it, I dont know why, I do try.

As Alex says, I see the mazy runs that dont deliver, I havent seen him get back and tackle for a long time, He never whips a cross in and quite often when we lose the ball he just saunters around, just slow enough not to have to get too near the action. Hiding I think its called.

Hopefully tho we may be lucky and make a few bob on him.

Edit: Also doesnt score.

To be fair I don't think you can knock his workrate CT.

Mind bias is a funny thing.

Several sherrys before the game.

When Guthrie came on our lass said it was Barton and for the next twenty minutes I thought his one touch football, determination and crossing was pure class.

As soon as I realised it was Guthrie I thought he was shit.

Marca are saying the comp will be 5.2 Euro all together with half going to Velez.

Nolan's an early frontrunner like which is about all the running he does, the fucking carthorse. Xisco has been a total waste and it's not like he seems to be brimming with the potential to break out. You could probably put our three strikers in here as one. Owen, still a good player, but totally useless in a team that can't string any passes forward, Martins is constantly injured and when he does play, his impact is minimal at best and Viduka seems to not give two shits about actually playing football. Still a canny hold-up player but he's just painfully slow.

It'd probably be easier to name our three best signings. If possible through process of elimination

Very true. I'll go for

Bassong

Beye

Jonas or Enrique

Regarding crap signings, I can't believe that Alan Smith hasn't been given more of a mention. Maybe he's been been off some people's radars since Where's Wally Nolan signed.

Smith went to Man Utd as an England international for £6m. After a bad injury and Man Utd subsequently deciding they didn't want him we signed him for the same fee! Typical NUFC.

Nolan, Xisco and Alan Smith for me. Ryan Taylor is kenk but he didn't cost much and won't be on a quarter of what Smith's on, and Smith has produced the sum total of fuck all in his time here. The likes of Owen and Barton have been poor value overall, but at least have contributed at times.

Thinking about it I'd replace Raylor with Smith.
