In Bruges

Got back on Sunday from 1 night in Brussels and 2 in Bruges. It was very nice. I overindulged on chocolate, chips and beer and saw Jesus' blood. Which looked a bit like a rusty turd. Highly recommended.

Once stopped in Gent on business. Very picturesqe from what I can remember.

Seem to remember the locals were very fond of raw meat in the restaurants?

Passed through Ghent on the way / way back. We were going to call in there but our flight home was moved from early evening to tea-time so we didn't really have time. Quite fancy going back though so may give it a go. It's meant to be a bit like Bruges but without the hoardes of tourists. Don't know about you but I just kept sub-consciously assuming I was in Holland when I was in the Flemish part of Belgium.

From what I saw of it (which wasn't a lot) Brussels was ok but nowt special. The gothic cathedral is canny impressive though. The main square (the Grand Place) is very beautiful although the bars are proper rip-off joints but they're nice for a couple of jars. I was talking to Midds last night and he said he thought the Mannekin Pis sort of summed Brussels up, which I'd probably agree with.

It's like that part of Belgium but with hookers and drugs.

I've been to Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels and thought Ghent was by far the best of the lot. Gorgeous city centre and really quiet, with hardly any tourists around.

Best part about Antwerp was probably the really random Greggs in the middle of the city!
