Aye. He took a load of punishment that night. Which is often overlooked, due to  him winning the fight and cementing his being world champion. But even a clearly passed it Klitschko was first to the punch virtually every time they engaged in the middle of the ring and Joshua took two to land one.

Just back from the fight. Disappointing that so many in the crowd were jeering Dubois. Two English blokes going against each other and he was the underdog. He soon shut everyone up. After he clipped AJ in round one it was one-way traffic. AJ has had a great career but he’s finished at this level. Shame they couldn’t make AJ v Fury when they were both in their prime but that’s boxing. I guess we’ll never know now. Unless both fancy a final pay day when over the hill, which would be typical.

 

i enjoyed Liam Gallagher’s pre-fight set. Feel less disappointed now about missing out on the oasis reunion tickets because he sounded bloody awful but it was a nice slice of 90s nostalgia

I still can’t quite believe I got 7/2 on Dubois winning. I knew it was never that sort of fight but didn’t expect AJ to be as bad as that. Very impressive from Dubois but AJ is finished as a fighter, he’d be a fool to exercise the rematch clause.

I think he should go for it. If he wins he is immediately a world champion again.  It’s much better than fighting a few jobbers on the way to another title chance somewhere down the line.
 

If he doesn’t win then he was one massive last pay deal.

He doesn’t need the money though. Someone in his team needs to be honest and tell him that he’s finished because his pride will have him trying again but his body is no longer fit for it.

His lack of a guard throughout the fight against a knock out specialist was just bizarre. I don’t know if he underestimated his opponent but AJ’s not known for having the greatest chin, you’d think he’s have been more cautious.

I think it was more to do with him getting his range wrong. There was a few occasions when he was acting like he was well out of range when he definitely wasn’t and was getting caught, not the sort of thing you expect from someone of his experience.

he walked straight into the punch that ended it with his guard completely down like an amateur

That was more to do with speed. AJ was going in with a right upper cut and Dubois beat him to the punch. When you lose that speed as a boxer it’s game over.

BTW how much of a charisma vacuum is Dubois? Very good boxer but I can’t remember such a boring British world champion.
