When one of their champions wins another version of the world title they become ‘Super Champion’ and they then also have an ‘Ordinary Champion’ (at least I think that’s what they call it). So you actually had two WBA champions in the same division fighting each other. Whichever one won would’ve ended leaving the ordinary belt vacant. I actually don’t think professional boxing is in that bad a place, relatively/historically speaking but that sort of thing highlights just how silly it can be.
