Papa Lazaru 0
Great start. Build on that tomorrow and it's nearly within touching distance. It is a great start, but still disappointing because of how we had them when 5 wickets were down and we could have really skittled them out, but far play they fought back and England have ended the day well on top. Managed to stay up till about 7:30 but couldn't make it till the end! Even when we've got their top order completely on their knees they still manage to find a couple of partnerships to prevent an outright collapse and make a game of it and that deserves respect tbh. As Alex has said you can never write them off and that's just one reason why. I just hope our attitude remains confident (as we are the superior team) but never gets complacent, because that's the only way they'll do us. Definitley the case that they won't just roll over and give in like you say. We had them completely done basically, but they managed to fight back enough to get a score that whilst not good enough, does give you something to work with. But i agree that as long as we are confident, we are superior and will have more than enough to beat them, but crucial that the top 3 between them get us off to another big start as they have done before. I think the first two tests have provided the perfect lessons for us in that when we are firing at our best we are comfortably better than them and if we believe in ourselves we'll win, but when we aren't at our best and slip up as in our first innings/their first innings (first test) they will be ready to pounce. Just really good to see an England team that finally is better than the aussies and knows it, they're not arrogant but you can see they're super confident. Long way to go yet though! When i've been at work the morning after the best i managed was about 4:30 i think, not advisable!
Papa Lazaru 0
Aussie fielding just keeps getting better! Instead of just dropping catches now have two of them leaving it for each other! Strauss got very lucky though, needs to cut out the early errors he's making every now and then.

Dr Gloom 22177
Bit of a fight back from our bowlers. Thing is that this WACa pitch isn't that quick. The battings jus been poor and annoyingly Johnson found his best form in years
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Well we've let them off the hook a bit there. Confirms why we should NEVER feel sorry for them. Suppose you can't go a whole series without having a disastrous day, but what is The Ashes without a bit of tension? We need to re-group. We still have the better players, in better form and that should be enough.
Papa Lazaru 0
Disappointing as you don't expect that with this England team, thought they'd cut out disasters like that. Fair play to Johnson for a day like that, but we've chucked it away there. I wasn't expecting another 500+ for 1 or 2 wickets but i thought, particularly with the openers in control that we could get a decent first innings lead of 100-150, something like that. Going to be tough now to avoid defeat as we're batting last and Johnson will be fired up, we really have to get them out for as little as possible tomorrow and with Watson/Hussy still in, Haddin to come and the lower order confident from first innings that won't be easy. What's really annoying is we've given them such a lift and brought them back from the dead when they were about to be out of it completely, but one thign about this England team is if they have a bad result they come back strongly the next game, so if it does go wrong this time, you know they'll respond. Papa Lazaru 0
Reading an article from ne of the aussie papers i think, and agree with them that Bell has to be moved up the order. He has immense ability and is in such great touch that he's wasted at six if he might run out of partners. Meanwhile Collingwood is struggling but specialises in rearguard actions and fighting it out, so at 6 he wouldn't be out of place at all. I'd move Bell to 5, they were saying maybe even 4, but he should certainly be higher than 6, especially if Johnson has woken up and is going to be a threat, because Bell managed him better than most. Dr Gloom 22177
well that's this test gone. roll on melborne. england's batters proving yet again that they're no good on a bouncy wicket that offers something for the bowlers. credit to australia though. only pietersen's wicket was a really cheap one. another failure from collingwood. i wonder whether they might look to morgan to come in at 6 and bump bell up to 5. Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
If the aussies are going to try to prepare another couple of pitches like that (and who could blame them?), I'd be tempted to pick an extra bowler and drop Colly (despite his amazing fielding). What a belter of an Ashes series this is turning out to be though! to be honest mate, if the mcg is another featherbed like the first two tests i fancy us to retain the urn as our bowling attack is better than yours. if it's a lively pitch (unlikely but they're bound to try to prepare one with a lot of grass on it after perth) then you guys are in with a shout as the occasion could still get to the frail minds of our side. at the end of the day they're english and they're playing under pressure to do something that hasn't been achieved for a generation. with that in mind, it's very likely it could still go tits up for us. looking it on paper though, i still fancy our chances, especially if we go for bresnan over colly and promote bell to number 5. prior is a more than capable number 6 and bresnan can sling his willow at number 7 while sharing the workload with the other seamers and taking the pressure off swann to tie up an end. Well, a lot will obviously depend on what happens on day one. Expecting a crowd of 100,000 and with momentum towards the Aussies, the English will have done well to overcome that. The pitch will be nothing like Perth's but it'll be green as there has been a lot of rain and moisture on the eastern seaboard of this continent the last few weeks, plus of course the groundsmen will make sure it is moist come boxing day. Not too sure I agree with you about England having a superior bowling attack. Ryan Harris will prosper on that wicket, as will Siddle and if Johnson can come near to replicating his accuracy he showed in Perth, and that's even before you take into consideration Finn will be rested and Anderson has a few aches and pains, well, I don't see any kind of superiority, if anything England are inferior. We'll have to wait and see there. As you mention also, England traditionally have a propensity to choke under pressure. Fascinating stuff, it being all up in the air, I'll be sat on my sofa with prawns and blue-swimmer crabs to devour and Coopers and a few glasses of cab-sav's to wash it all down with. spongebob toonpants 4134
We've sucked them back in. There is no enjoyment in kicking a dead dog - just give them enough encouragement and sure enough the Aussies are giving it the big I AM. It just ensures the humiliation we are about to dish out will be even more enjoyable. Its like a cat with a mouse

Fascinating stuff, it being all up in the air, I'll be sat on my sofa with prawns and blue-swimmer crabs to devour and Coopers and a few glasses of cab-sav's to wash it all down with. i disagree about the bowling. i think johnson got lucky with some assistance from the fremantle doctor. i've never seen him swing it like that before although i know he did somethign similar when he tore through south africa a few years back. if he gets it right, he's dangerous no doubt - clearly you don't get to world number 1 without being dangerous. but he reminds me a bit of steve harmison - when he does get it right, it's less to do with his action and more to do with a bit of help from the conditions or everything just clicking into place on a given day. i'd be suprised if he repeats that perth performance - he threw down a load of rubbish in brisbane and the whole of last summer in the UK (though obviously i hope he doesn't prove me wrong ) siddle, i don't think is much to write home about. hilfenhaus for me is the better bowler but he's not really a wicket taker is he? and your lack of a front line spinner will come into play now the series has moved on from perth. the one thing that could swing it your way is your batters are better suited to the conditions. our batters could well wilt under the pressure and our bowlers start to feel the pace of the series. all to play for like you say, i'm well looking forward to boxing day - man city at home during the day then the ashes cricket all night. happy days
Ken 119
Your batsmen, collectively, are in better form it must be said. In the grander scheme of things I can't see how England can get a result though. For me, there's not enough going there way. On the subject of Warnie, he was clearly batting way above his average before getting hit with a doosra. What was she thinking in the first place? The fat wombat is lucky to have what he does let alone playing the field with his fake chops, a rug and a tightened forehead.
Papa Lazaru 0
Off we go again, England gambling with Bresnan in for Finn and choosing to bowl first. Finn's been expensive but he's the leading wicket taker for either side, they must think he's tiring and needs a match out.
