Gemmill 44879
Looking forward to Ken's post-series thoughts. He doesn't look anything like a ringpiece IMO.

Gemmill 44879
Loved Strauss running around screaming after the last wicket fell, he always seems so composed Aye I was pissing myself at that. Just roaring like a fucking madman as Swann ran straight past him, then chasing Swann all the time screaming and giving it the double fist pump. Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Positives: Strauss and a relatively young side can take confidence and grow from this, Trott looks a handy find, KP to come back, Prior faultless behind the stumps, the emergence of Broad from ugly duckling to mcgrath-lite, Rashid to come in, Swann adding some useful runs at the end as well as taking the odd wicket, Jimmy to get his form back when fully fit, Strauss and Flower seem to be working together well. Negatives: Cook technically flawed and seemingly unwilling/unable to change, clear friction between KP and Strauss & Flower with potential damaging consequences, selectors inability to drop their faves no matter what their form, too many idiotic shots from Prior to get dismissed, Swann unthreatening on a docile pitch, Jimmy erratic. Overall: Strauss has had a great series, but is a bit cautious as a captain. We've been unbelievably lucky with winning tosses, umpiring decisions, Brett Lee missing the whole series and them not having a top line spinner. The middle order has been almost exclusively awful. If you look at the statistics I don't know how we did it, but what the hell!

Just roaring like a fucking madman as Swann ran straight past him, then chasing Swann all the time screaming and giving it the double fist pump. It was a class reaction, and showed what it meant to him. Also what an effort as captain leading by example all the time with the bat when others around him were struggling. Great to win 2 home series in a row, hopefully this one will be followed by a competitive away series rather than a 5-0 whitewash!
TheInspiration 1
Still seems a bit odd we've won the Ashes when you consider the statistics: Strauss was the only Englishman in the top 7 runscorers in the series (he was first to be fair, but he played the most innings). Eight Australian centuries, compared to two English. Leading three wicket-takers and bowling averages all Australian. Etc. But I'm ecstatic nonetheless. That said I'd like to also spare a moment to thank South Africa for their valuable contribution in helping us win this Ashes series.
Guest alex
I really can't see England winning any of the next 4 matches. They offer nothing. They get their hopes up by beating a bunch of part timers from the Caribbean and think they're in with a chance against Australia. The best they can hope for are 4 draws. Who knows, we may see that fat bastard waddling onto the ground again eh?And England will once again celebrate a draw as if it were a win.

Theres no denying we had a bit of help from the umpires, both teams got crap decisions but the aussies got the most and England never win this many tosses in an ashes series usually and it makes a big difference. I also don't think it can be understated how important Collingwood and the tail saving the draw in the first test as if we'd lost that one i think the series would have gone. Kitman 2207
Fantastic result, well done lads! Very happy the Aussies were put in their place. Hard to fathom the difference between this test and the last one but hey ho

Ken 119
Absolutely disappointing this result, don't I look a fool now, eh? Merven Hughes and Andrew Hilditch can go to buggary, shit selections all series has led to this result. Not taking away anything from England though, of course they deserved the victory and the Ashes and it was an exciting one to follow. But Stuart Clark being overlooked for the first three tests, Phillip Hughes being dropped for an injury prone one-day allrounder and not having a specialist spinner in this last test is just gobsmacking stupidity. Being born in England doesn't make this loss any less painful, let me tel ya... On a lighter note though, hearing Lily Allen being cheeky on BBC and that see-through little ensemble she was wearing

The Fish 10857
Went to watch the Ashes at Regents Park with a couple thousand other sun worshippers. Got there nice and early, just in time to see Ponting go, we got comfortable and cracked open the beers enjoying the atmosphere and the bevy of beauties. Another wicket fell and we thought "Great, we'll get to be amid the crowds when we win, this'll be brilliant" The day is pleasant enough, but the cricket isn't firing the imagination as we'd have liked and our minds wander. A bunch of mates are on the Southbank; having a picnic outside a pub that's showing the game. We reckon if we get a tube now, we'll be down there in time to see the rest of the session AND meet up with our mates then watch the finale tomorrow at work. So at around five we head off. In the 35 minutes or so it takes us to get from Regents park to the South bank, all the wickets tumble, we miss everything and endure sweltering heat and stupid tourists on the tube. To top it all the two Aussies that we were going to goad until they leapt into the Thames had left because "they weren't in the mood anymore"
