OTF 7327
I really hope that Shearer had something to say to Nicky Butt as a result of their first goal. He was way too casual tracking back. Just let Bent jog passed him to tap in the goal. He might have been running flat out, difficult to say Sad but true.
dbsweeney 0
It's beginning to sound more and more like Enrique and Barton might be back for the game. NEWCASTLE United are confident José Enrique and Joey Barton will both be fit to play against Portsmouth next Monday, although Steven Taylor is a fresh injury concern for Alan Shearer. Taylor looked as though he was struggling throughout the first half of the 1-0 defeat at Tottenham on Sunday and was replaced by Alan Smith during the half-time break. The injury is the same ankle problem he picked up against Arsenal back in March and it could be the England Under-21 international rushed back too quickly in his desire to aid United’s safety push. Shearer said: “It’s Steven Taylor’s ankle. He trained for two or three days with no reaction, and I just felt it was right to put him in. But he’s felt it again and we’ll have to see how he is over the next few days.” The loss of Taylor will be offset by the return of Enrique. Shearer has made no attempt to hide his disdain for the club’s previous recruitment strategy which means the former Spanish Under-21 international is the only specialist left-back at St James’s Park and his return to fitness is a big relief. Shearer said: “Hopefully, José Enrique will be training Wednesday or Thursday. If everything goes well with him, we might have him available for Ports-mouth.” United’s coaching staff will adopt a similar stance regarding Barton, but The Journal understands the combative midfielder has already told Shearer he is ready to play against Pompey. I truely believe Barton might be the presence we need in the midfield--at least he'll be willing to really push foward and might even be able to pass a ball (DO YOU HEAR ME NICKY BUTT?) I just think an all night party outside their hotel, few accidental fire alarms going off and then 500 kids shouting abuse when they're training cant do any harm. Its time to become Galatasaray (just without the stabbings). Welcome to hell.

Its time to become Galatasaray (just without the stabbings). Welcome to hell. I think about that sometimes in terms of our treatment of Ashley. We're far too nice! We go to games, hold up a couple of banners and boo a little bit. It's time to go all Italian on him, if we go down, or even if we don't. Lets start smashing up the place, set fire to his offices etc. Destroy the players car's, boooo!!!! We've had enough! If anyone sits near Ashley at the games perhaps they could launch a couple of flares at him as well?

Matty 0
From .com Graeme Danby will give a pre-match rendition of "The Blaydon Races" and the teams will enter to a four-sided wall of black and white cards. 20,000 flags are also being given out and 1,000 fans up in the Leazes Level Seven Corner will be handed scarves. Craig 6682
Just listened to Shearer's press conference on BBC. Quite evidently pissed off that we don't start playing until at least an hour into the game and sounds keen to stress that we need to start playing from the first minute. Lets hope they take note. smoggeordie 0
Looking on the online BO, there seems to be a fair few empty seats for tomorrow night imo. I wonder where the 'fans' who were desperate for Man U/mackems at home tickets have fucked off to?

LeazesMag 0
Viduka blowing out of his arse is better than Shola who is just plain arse, and dare I say Carroll who at this stage of the season should work well as an impact player. If it was my choice I would run with this: Harper Beye Bassong Taylor Enrique Jonas Guthrie Duff Owen Viduka Martins Subs: Forster, Smith, Carroll, Edgar, R. Taylor, Geremi, Nolan I agree that we have to go with those front 3 Says a lot though, that it's all we have, apart from an adrenalin charged Carrol if things aren't going well
smoggeordie 0
Its not always a case of quantity as quality. Agreed, some of the best atmospheres this season have been generated when the fical fans aren't there. Plus, it increases my chances of getting a flag. snakehips 0
Its not always a case of quantity as quality. Tell my wife that most nights. Got a bad feeling about this game. All the talk is Newcastle, noocarsul, nyecassul etc etc, and no-one is talking about Pompey at all. It suits them down to the ground to come up on the quiet and spoil the party. Pompey will sit back and make life difficult for us - the home fans get restless, the team desperate and suddenly the 90 mins are over. Remember Bolton in KK's first game - another 0-0 would be a very, very bad result.

acrossthepond 877
We've talked a lot about 'must-win' games this season, but I don't think it ever really sank home with the players. I hope this one does. Because if we don't win, we go down, end of story. Appropriate that it's against Portsmouth again. I hope we have another David Kelly.
