KingKev 0
ALAN SHEARER is keen to stay on as Newcastle manager this summer . . . if he sees the colour of Mike Ashley’s money. Publicly, Shearer can only commit himself to United’s seven remaining games and the fight for Premier League survival. And with that battle a priority, he has not yet discussed the club’s long-term finances with owner Ashley. But sources close to the Geordie legend have confirmed he WOULD be willing to remain in the Magpies hotseat – as long as Ashley can guarantee him the funds to take the club forward. And although money is currently tight, with relegation looming large and a compensation battle with former boss Kevin Keegan ongoing , the promise of Shearer staying on is set to see Ashley attempt to attract a major new investor to join him at St James’s Park. The prospect of a buyer for the club being found remains slim, but a fresh injection of cash from a new board member – which would help finance a full-time contract for Shearer and a subsequent spending spree – is a possibility. Meanwhile, the Sunday Sun can reveal that Ashley approached Gerard Houllier about taking temporary charge of Newcastle before turning to Shearer. Houllier was contacted around 10 days ago as doubts rose over the wisdom of heart-attack victim Joe Kinnear returning to the dug-out this season. But the former Liverpool boss politely rebuffed Newcastle’s advances, citing his long-term commitment to his job as technical director of the French Football Federation. http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle...79310-23314330/

That's a 'No' then. Replacing a heart-attack victim with an, er, heart-attack victim. It's that sort of razor sharp thinking that made you as popular as you are today Mikey Boy.
