Brock Manson 0
Absolutely amazing race, some great driving on display. Couldn't tear myself away! Dead chuffed for Button, he's been very lucky over the course of the season, but you still don't just fluke your way to the driver's championship. Craig 6670
Awesome drives by Hamilton, Vettel and Button today - all 3 deserved to be on the podium yet only one did. As for Button - he's scored points in every race except the one where he was nerfed out by Grosjean and it's consistency that wins you championships. Add to that the six wins he achieved he's fully deserving of his title. Vettel's post-race interview disappointed me - sure he's gutted but he wouldn't even refer to Jenson by name. The kid's got years ahead of him, his time will come. Different story for Rubens sadly and I do feel sorry for him in a way. One thing I'm wanting to know.... Did Skol/Ketsbaia actually put that bet on for 'shits and giggles' for Button to be World Champion and if he did, what were the odds and how much have you just raked in? Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
That is one of the funny things about sport: start off great and finish slowly and you've 'limped over the line' or are an 'undeserving champion'; start slow and finish strongly and its a 'brave title charge'. The truth is Jenson has won more races than anyone else, he's been more consistent than anyone else and as a result he's earned more points than anyone else. No question he is a deserving world champ and all credit to him and the Brawn team, winning the constructors title in their debut season. Skol's bet intrigues me too, he's been a bit elusive when I've asked him about it before.

Craig 6670
button for sports personality now? Brawn are undoubtedly 'team of the year' and I pray to god that title doesn't got to the cricket team again. Not sure about Button - Hamilton didn't get it for the past 2 years but there just seems something 'sentimental' about him winning it. I acknowledge that Alonso is the best 'pound for pound' driver on the grid today but IMO there isn't a smoother racer nor a better overtaker than Jenson. I was a Mansell fan and then when he went off to America progressed to Hill and when Damon called it a day I almost naturally progressed to following Button. I just hope that, now all the pressure's been lifted, he goes to Abu Dhabi and shows the world he can still win a race.

Craig 6670
i reckon the football team will get it after the qualifying campaign and the massive lift since the shitness of not qualifying for euro 08 Rather than the F1 team who around this time last year were told they didn't exist any more and stayed that way until 3 weeks before the season began. Then no sooner had the season started they made almost 300 of their staff (one third) redundant. They've won 8 of the 16 races so far this season and by doing so have been the first team outside of the F1 'top four' of Ferrari, McLaren, Williams & Benetton/Renault to win the constructor's championship since Lotus did so way back in 1978. If anyone else except Brawn GP wins 'team of the year' it's a fucking joke.
Ketsbaia 0
Yes, my bet It wasn't really for shits and giggles as much as i'm a sad anorak who saw that Brawn were bum raping all comers in testing and Betfair hadn't, so I whacked £5 at 20/1. This evening my account was furnished with the lovely cash

And IIRC it's not awarded by the public - that's only the main event. Given the amount of 'reddies' the Beeb have thrown at F1 for this season, I doubt popularity would be an issue anyway. I think it's probably more 'nailed on' than when the Rugby team won it back in 2003.

Braver man than I for sticking a fiver on it back then, I was certain their pace was a red herring. How wrong (thankfully) was I?

Craig 6670
Just realised.... For the second year in a row, car no. 22 driven by an Englishman and powered by a Mercedes Benz engine finished 5th at the Brazilian GP to win the World Drivers Championship. Now there's a little scenario I wish I had put a fiver on!
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Kimi must've got a fright, being sprayed with petrol from that Mclaren. Just as well fuel stops are being banned next year.
Meenzer 15347
I honestly think Button will go down in history as one of the more underwhelming world champions unless he can repeat the feat (or come reasonably close) next year. Not saying he deserves that fate, but just like last year, it's been another season where nobody has really dominated per se. That said, good on him for getting a break with a decent car after years of plugging away - and as for his second half of the season, sure, it's not been spectacular, but grinding out 0-0 draws and 1-0 wins is an accepted way of winning a league title once you've established a lead, so hey.
