Makes sense - Santander is in keeping with Ferrari's colourscheme anyway. Interesting that they're jumping ship from McLaren and Vodafone did the opposite :icon_lol:

Bruno Senna will be in F1 next year I'm convinced - doubt very much he'll sit in for Massa though. Schumacher... hmm. I think this is his representative talking, not him who's probably now down at the bookies betting against it!

I always think Rosset was Swiss too. I blame Marc Rosset, the Olympian tennis player. :)

Thinking back to my glory years as a racing nerd, I think Gregor Foitek was Swiss, but calling him an F1 driver might be pushing it a bit...

How the fuck could I forget Deletraz? He was unquestionably the worst F1 driver I have ever witnessed.

BTW I find it hilarious that Switzerland can produce F1 drivers and also an F1 Team (Sauber) when Motorsport is banned in the country.. :)

Ferrari have confirmed seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher will make a sensational return to Formula One to stand in for Felipe Massa for the rest of the season.

German driving legend Schumacher still works for Ferrari as an advisor, but after Massa's shocking injury in Hungary he will now get back behind the wheel once again.

Schumacher has some time to prepare as the F1 season takes a summer break, but he should once again line up on the grid at the European Grand Prix in Valencia on August 23

From skysports,

Surprised about this, they seemingly have no chance in either of the championships. I thought perhaps they would take the opportunity to try some younger talent, they really have nothing to lose and its not a long term move. Shame they went for publicity stunt but good luck to him and the team.

I'm absolutely fucking stunned he's coming back for it... for his sake, I hope it's a successful comeback like Lauda did rather than ill fated like Mansell in '95. Although I can't stand the man, I can't wait to see him on a grid with Hamilton which hasn't happened before.

Be also interesting from the angle that Ross Brawn is involved with another team and not the one that Schumacher is driving. It's only happened once before (in 1996) and Scum's team weren't exactly setting the world alight despite the masterful drive in Spain.

Brawn and Red Bull must be pissing themselves - will totally take the media attention away from then for the duration of MS's comeback.

Be interesting to see if he's still got it.

Without a doubt he'll still have it. Both mentally and physically. The difference with this though is it is no longer just about him. Ferrari (and Benetton for that matter) ran rings round him when he was a contracted driver - he's never been on a level playing field with any team-mate save perhaps Irvine in '99 when MS broke his leg and came back in an attempt to help Eddie win the WDC. There's no way he can expect Raikkonen to play that game though - with that in mind, I think we'll see a more likeable Schumacher.

It's going to be exciting to say the least - the media frenzy will be fucking awful though.

Can't see Renault releasing Alonso early, but it's more likely than the story in the Times that Schumi might come back.

The Noisewater finger on the pulse as usual <_<

Genuinely excited about this. I'd love him to come back, wipe the floor with everyone, and say "That is how it's done lads" but it won't happen. As Craig says, be interesting to see how he does minus Brawn and without the team being totally build around him. He risks tarnishing his reputation a bit I suppose, but clearly the lure of one last go was too strong.

I bet Raikkonen's face was a picture when he heard the news btw, even jollier than usual! :)

Wonderful news, now I have someone in F1 to really despise again! :) I was starting to feel apathetic about them all. Aside from that though I fully expect him to be as quick or even quicker than Kimi.

I'm surprised in a way though, Schumi survived years of racing, relatively unscathed, is it tempting fate to come back? I'd be very superstitious about it myself.
