Lots of different age groups on forums mate. Cant believe many under 25 have watched them. Tonights was the one where they challenge each other to a bike race to Berwick, then pass each other on the back of vans. Brown ale in the water bottles. Kevin Carr's Gloves 3973
I love the line from the film where Terry is fishing and Bob comes to talk to him and he says "I'd offer you a can but I've only got six". Gold.
luckyluke 2
The episode where they're trying to avoid hearing the football score so they can watch Match of The Day is classic.

Strictly speaking 'Whatever happened to the Likely Lads' then, not the original B&W series which hasn't aged as well. One of my all time favourite series, it would be good anyway, but the fact its set locally makes it spot on. I like how both series tell one long story, with the first one culminating in Bob's wedding. I've got the lot (and the film) on DVD, cheap as chips iirc. Each time I catch it on some channel I love it all over again. This should go in the claim to fame, but I remember the local farmer became an overnight celebrity because one of his wagons was used in an episode. NJS 4411
I love the line from the film where Terry is fishing and Bob comes to talk to him and he says "I'd offer you a can but I've only got six". Gold. Probably my favourite comedy line of all time. The only thing that slightly spoils it for me is the complete lack of any genuine north-easterners - Bewes aside who did a fine job, the other actors hardly even make a token effort to sound local - Brian Glover being a good example in the classic one about the England match. . It would take a North-Easterner to recognise Bolam's got a mackem accent. I personally thought Bewes and the woman who played 'Thelma' had believable middle-class Newcastle accents which worked. I'm assuming 'Audrey' was local.

Christmas Tree 4827
Ok let's own up. Are you a terry or a bob? I would like to think I'm terry and bobs lovechild, but probably really just a bob.

Renton 22001
100% Bob, but bought up with a lot of Terrys. As a kid I remember thinking how cool Terry was and wanted to emulate him, but watching it as an adult its interesting to see how inadequate the character is. Bob's got plenty of his own problems too like.

Agree - I was actually quite surprised when I read Bolam was born in Sunderland - he wasn't "real" mackem to me. Having watched it when younger it never really crossed my mind he wasn't a geordie. Mind since then a few things i've read/heard about him he seems to be a bit of an arse to be honest, and still to this day won't speak to Bewes at all because he told somebody in an interview that Bolam was getting married and apparently he wasn't supposed to. Something like that anyway, but i've certainly read a few unfavourable things about him. Seemed to be one of the few 70's sitcoms that actualy made a film that was funny as well, some of the others tended to be a bit poor as i recall.
