'Boro Eye' wheel could be built

Middlesbrough could become the latest venue in the north east of England to play host to a giant ferris wheel.

The 130ft (40m) so-called "Boro Eye", with 30 glass-sided and climate-controlled observation pods, would stand in the town's Central Square.

If permission is given at a council meeting on 9 April, it could be installed by the end of the month.

A consultation process to seek the views of residents, businesses and other interested parties is under way.

Councillor Dave Budd, Middlesbrough Council's executive member for regeneration and economic development, said: "This latest proposal will add a new dimension to Central Square and will certainly attract new visitors to the town.

"The wheel will give residents and visitors a great opportunity to get a new bird's eye view of the town's unique mix of historic and newer buildings."

They could call it the Eye Sore tbh.

... why?

surely investing in making the place better to look at is a better investment than simply giving people a better view of a shit hole?

will certainly attract new visitors to the town.

That has to be the most fucking stupid thing I've heard since Shola first gave an interview.

'Here pet, what do you fancy doing tomorrow?'

'Eee, whey they've built this geet big wheel in Middlesborough town centre, I really fancy a birds eye view of the ICI plant!'
