F1 ruined

The drivers championship will now be decided by whoever wins the most races rather than points.

So you could have the championship over with several races left which will mean absolutely nothing, have crap attendance figures and tv ratings.

Well done to whoever took this decision!

I question how thoroughly they've thought it through.

I know there were muttering at the end of last season about if Massa won more races didn't he deserve it, but the last two seasons have been decided at the end of the final race, what more can they want in terms of a cliffhanger?

Also Keke Rosberg was the 1982 World Champion despite only winning ONE race because he was the most consistent in one of the most eventful seasons of F1 history.

Lets remember one of the races that Massa won he won because of the FIA and their ridiculous application of the 'rules'.

If they wanted wins to carry more weight they should go back to the 10-6-4-3-2-1 point system.

The idea is that it would encourage overtaking.

I don't think the drivers aren't overtaking because they don't want to, its because its bloody difficult in modern-era F1.

True, but the idea is (and it's not Fop's idea - if Bernie listened to Fop, they'd have limited Nitrous back in and blades on the wheels :) ) that a driver will not risk an overtaking manoeuvre when when coming 2nd or 3rd or whatever will do - which is pretty true, whether it's the best solution .

While talking in the third person is incredibly douchy, I do agree with your suggestions. :-D

Smaller wings are a step in the right direction, but I'd ban carbon brakes. The ridiculously short braking distances make it almost impossible to get a run on someone these days. Steel brake discs please (and suspension parts, lets have a bit of wheel-banging back too).

Kitman likes your suggestions. Kitman thinks that if they introduce these, plus mounting a whale harpoon on the front of the cars, F1 might actually be worth watching for a change.

FYP

Complete lunacy and totally contradicts what they've said in the past (the reason they went to 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 from 10-6-4-3-2-1 was so they could avoid the driver's championship being concluded midway through a season.

Smacks of Bernie being at fault more than Max IMO - he was desperate to get the Gold, Silver & Bronze farce in and when that failed, this became the natural replacement!

They've just had the most gripping finish to a WDC ever and, had they applied these new rules last season, the championship would have been over when Massa crossed the line NOT Hamilton.

Total and utter farce! Sorry to say this Dr Ken but I doubt this change would have been drafted in if it had been a Ferrari which had won it by the skin of their teeth.

Another proposal is to change the name from Formula one to Ferrari one.

I'm beginning to get that siege mentality that ManU fans always seem to have.

they should just do points for top 5 or 6 cars with 1st getting double what second gets. include fractions.

The FIA have always had a silent "T" on the end haven't they?

If everyone had the same budget/engine/package, then it would be a sport again.

Thought it was exciting enough last year tbf. Should be left as it is.

should be two separate championships - the drivers and the constructors

Each driver gets to drive each of the cars twice - that would soon sort out who is really best................

And totally go against the ethos of Formula One?

There's plenty of other 'controlled' formulae out there - this one so have the free-est reigns of all ;)
