I don't think they were that bad but they wouldn't get into our best back four imo.
charvski 0
Are any of our current team individually as bad as Tight Arse, O'Brien or Griffin? Goes to show. goes to show how important the use of pace is in the team mate. im not saying these were the fastest, but that team had pace in it, in most parts of the pitch. the team was also well balanced. you know like right winger on the right wing, left winger on the left. we had proper full backs and didnt have to use a central defender there etc etc could go on and on and on

Shearer, Speed, Solano, Robert...even Jenas didn't have a great deal of pace. There's just no-one as skillful as any of those first four in our whole team. Guest alex
Robert had pace. Dyer played a lot and he had pace. Jenas had legs, as did Speed. Shearer had neither

Besty 4
Basically, it was all down to the attacking side of things. Bellamy, Shearer, Robert and Solano.

charvski 0
well compared to our team we have now it seemed pacey. that is maybe because the team we have now is the slowest i have ever seen
Besty 4
Forgot about Dyer. Thinking about it, it was just our defence that was shite tbf.
Ketsbaia 0
People always underestimate Dyer's contribution. The most irritating thing about Dyer is that you always felt he was never playing anywhere near 100%.
JawD 99
Link up with Nobby on the right and Dyer CM was brilliant at times. Nobby still one of the best crossers of the ball I've seen. Wasn't the fastest but knew how to use the ball. Him and Robert often had some of the highest assists in the league iirc. Pretty useful when we had Shearer on the other end of them. Then of course Bellamy up front being his usual irritating self. Also, we had Speed then in the centre. We would have him here now as he was then ahead of Butt etc eh. He had one good game in ten, couldnt finish, couldnt cross, didnt know when to pass and was a cunt to boot.

tinofbeans 91
dyer was a frustrating player. couldn't pass accurately over 15 yards, often dissapeared from games but gave use a bit of speed through the middle. would have been shit on the wing because he was too slight. oh and his good games were pretty rare. he never dominated the midfield, really. Guest Stevie
In 2001/2002 he was absolutely class, people will much rather see him in a negative light though. If Dyer was fully fit and here now he would be by a distance our best player, something few would admit.
Guest alex
I'm not going to turn around and say Dyer was brilliant for us or, indeed, that he's a great player and he never fulfilled what appeared to be wonderful potential. But he was an integral part of Robson's side (when fit!) and he had a very good understanding with Solano. Both him and Bellamy gave a lot of legs and pace to the side and they were both willing to run beyond defenders - something which is sadly lacking in the current side. To say he was shit is bollocks. Inconsistent perhaps but his form probably went downhill due to injuries and playing in poorer sides more than anything else.
