peasepud 59
Heres a novelty, me sort of sticking up for the club I agree totally that those who cancelled their agreements should pay the difference back, what about the other 93% of ST holders who either didnt enter the agreement at all and therefore paid about £50 more than these people (for the same shower of shite on the pitch) or that have honoured the agreement and already started paying for next years Championship ticket? These people only got the discount because they agreed to purchase more tickets, if they arent going to uphold their side of the bargain (totally understandably tbh) then the club shouldnt be expected to cover the difference. peasepud 59
And a fair enough argument from Mr Bird. I know that I personally would resent the fact Ive signed up for three years and gained nothing over those that cancelled, especially as Im now paying for next seasons ticket regardless of what league we'll be playing in. Those that arent showing that loyalty because they just want out shouldnt be entitled to the same discount as those of us that are staying and supporting the lads. Kitman 2207
Well, you reap what you sow. It shouldn't surprise anyone if people stay away next season. No doubt there'll be fans who'll turn up regardless and good on them, but if I was an impoverished season ticket holder I'd be thinking long and hard about just to pick and choose matches. It's been bad enough watching highlights from the armchair tbh, and to be fair not just under Ashley's tenure either.

maggiespaws 0
It's a fair article, something that seems to be happening to us more frequently of late. I agree it doesn't look good PR wise to ask for the money back but in fairness, I don't think it's fair on those who have paid the extra cash either if the club didn't. It's probably a no-win situation for the club as they would be dammed if they didn't release people from the 3yr deal, but I'm sure someone would have pointed out the fact those people had been allowed to save upwards of £50. Anyway, taking my 'on-the-fence' hat off, they've made the rod for their own backs. They gambled with the club and it hasn't paid off and now they are in the shit. Unfortunately, we're all in the shit with them. I should point out that I'm not a ST holder so none of this really applies to me. That's maybe why I can sit on the fence on this and see both sides. Some would argue I can't pass comment like Changing the subject away from the above line, the article points out the bit about the VAT reduction money. That's just typical really. I'm sure administratively it would be more costly to process the refunds, but the unwashed managed to do something positive with the money (buy local league shirts etc) whereas our lot just stuff it down the back of MA's sofa. peasepud 59
Which is a totally understandable and valid view, it's that repayment of the discount that is the issue. To me it's right and proper that it's repaid. How the club goes about these things however is as usual cackhanded.

Feel a bit dirty having something from him in the house. Think there will be a lot not paying the difference come April leading to more bad pr. Are you going to pay it? Ive heard today about a bloke who wrote to cancel after they took the first months DD of £59.98, they have now written to him stating that he owes them the first years discount of £60.00 and threatening to take him to court. As far as he, me and everyone else can see he owes £0.02 (which Im sure Mr Llambias will agree would cost more to administer, seeing as £17 per season ticket is too much to administer according to him)

NJS 4446
Just had a call off the club - took my CC details for the discount - no discussion/sell and I still haven't had a letter off the Casino Crook. I presume the lack of resistence was because I was pro-active in cancelling.

I have had 2 direct debit payments taken from me and have e-mailed the club seeing if I can still cancel and I have been told to put it in writing, make sure I sign the letter and they will contact me in due course. Fuckers want to let me cancel or the direct debit is getting cancelled regardless.
acrossthepond 896
Meanwhile, Villareal are giving free season tickets to unemployed fans next season. Sounds like they know how to repay loyalty.
