Chrons Lee Ryder on NUSC

Just had a look at the NUSC committee profiles. Perhaps it would be better for Michael Ord (a lawyer by trade) to speak to the board if we get another opportunity?

That's a big IF imo. I fully expect DL to retreat into his bunker now and let his minions front up to these things. I have no axe to grind with the NUSC one way or another, in fact I really don't care what they do, but they shouldn't be surprised if the shutters come down.

It was only a brief tactical sortie anyway, he can now get away without talking to the fans for another 12 months.

Aye, first meeting he's attended anyway isn't it?

Happy Face, Ive read your blog and its much better reading the whole lot without context, but can you explain to me this statement.

"Worrying comments made by Llambias that were on the whole accurate have found their way into the public domain only thanks to the voluntary work being done by the NUSC".

I can not get my head round this part. I've read it a few times and it sometimes demonstrates a non pr savvy chairman getting into a war or words. He also went into more detail about some of the things that have gone on which I agree just makes them look not very slick. What I struggle with in all this, is that I keep reading back through and struggle to see the big story that I feel should be lurking in their.

If I was to strip away some of non stuff and try and pick out the top four items I would probably go for;

We're still paying for some of them now, we won’t clear the debt for those players as it will take us until 2011”

We got £5.9M plus add-ons, not paid until 1st of July.

It would cost more than £12 (per person) in administration to [return the vat on season tickets]”

All they (those who signed for 3 years) were doing was guaranteeing a frozen price”.

There more I look back at this the more confused I get.

A sensible answer rather than a tirade would be helpful :superman2sa2:

Not sure what's confusing you. I've changed the wording because it made Llambias sound accurate, so now it's

"Worrying comments made by Llambias that were reported accurately have found their way into the public domain only thanks to the voluntary work being done by the NUSC. "

You don't think it's a worrying story that we'll be in debt till 2011 despite the picture they've painted of white knight Mike satisfying all the debt?

You don't think it's a worrying story that they only got £5.9M for a keeper they value at £15M?

You don't think it's a worrying story that "top, top" managers are knocking on his door but he wants to stick with Kinnear?

I think its just one of those stories that has been so surrounded in "other stuff" this week, when you get at the detail, the BIG SCOOP that I think a lot us thought was hidden in there, isnt there.

I already knew we had amateurs in charge who are pretty clueless about Football as demonstrated over the last 12 months and the fact we are hanging on to survival by our finger nails.

Am I more worried than I already was? To be honest not really. These are all minor details compared to our fight to survive the drop.

"You don't think it's a worrying story that we'll be in debt till 2011 despite the picture they've painted of white knight Mike satisfying all the debt?"

Think most fans knew that the debt had just been moved and not paid off before this week.

"You don't think it's a worrying story that they only got £5.9M for a keeper they value at £15M?"

Looking back at threads on here I dont think many who were been realistic thought he was worth too much more. Some were quite happy to get the money bearing in mind the Goalies we have on the books.

"You don't think it's a worrying story that "top, top" managers are knocking on his door but he wants to stick with Kinnear?"

Im sure there is a whole host of so called "Top Managers" chasing this nice little earner at St James. Few months work, 7 Million pay off. :superman2sa2: Seriously, I have no doubt that once they took it off the market, the McClarens, Curbishleys, Inces etc (People he probably conveives as top managers) were trying to get this gig.

I also guess it was a bit of bravado as well given the hot exchange of words that appears to have been taken place and again we already knew they wanted to keep JFK

Again, just dont think the earth really moves once we get through the mist.

Not sure about your reasoning there. Just because you know those things, doesn't mean it's not a story to hear the MD confirm it.

I know Llambias is a twat too, but it would be a big story if he came out and said "What a snide Cockney wanker I really am!"

Just think at the end of the day there was nothing new and the week started off with all these "new facts" now in the public domain.

Think Lee Ryders blog tho is worth continuing with. The first 7 or 8 comments left were in favour but its now upto 35 with most against, including yours :superman2sa2:

Some good points being made and it would be helpful if people add to them to try and get some answers out of Lee.

"Lee Ryder was an American porn star who performed in gay pornography films from 1981 to 1986. With his bad-boy good looks and slim body, Lee Ryder became one of the first gay porn superstar during a period when the pornography industry was making its transition from film to video in the early 1980s."

Of course we have to be realistic in how far the local press are going to push the club in their criticism, but saying they are the club's lapdogs based on this blogpiece is OTT. If he'd come out with a hatchet job on this meeting, he certainly wouldn't have been invited along to future ones, however he now has quotes from the horses mouth which he can hold Llambias to or use in the future if the club subsequently go against or contradict anything said at these meetings. Whether he chooses to do this is another matter of course.

As arguably United’s best player this season, that will go down as a remarkably successful piece of business in the transfer market although Bassong does not credit Wise with instigating the move, as has been previously claimed by the board.

Although Newcastle’s unpopular recruitment chief may have negotiated a price with Metz and carried out contract negotiations, it was Keegan who first invited him to the North East for a trial.

“Personally it has been a good season for me, but if my team goes down there is no way I can say it has been a good season,” said Bassong.

“I will give it everything to keep Newcastle United in the Premiership. I think we deserve to stay up. It’s a big club with some great players, but we have been hurt very badly by injuries.

“When I arrived Kevin Keegan warned me it could be a long time until I played in the first team, or it could be very quick. It came very quickly because I took my chance when it came.

“I came to Newcastle because my agent knew Kevin Keegan and my agent told him he had me and that I was a good player at Metz.

“Kevin Keegan had seen me play one or two times for France Under-21s and he asked my agent if I could come for a trial to see how I was with my teammates and how I felt about living in England.

“After the trial, Kevin Keegan was happy, the staff were happy, so I signed. It was a big thrill for me when someone of Kevin Keegan’s stature wanted to sign me.

Different journalist, but is a good example of what I meant about biding one's time to use information without burning your bridges. Do you think Bassong came out with these quotes about who was responsible for signing him without being prompted? Nah. Good journalism.

I told yas about Bassong being a KK signing :superman2sa2:

Perfect example of the way the board lie through their fucking teeth there.

Am I reading too much into this quote....

we won’t clear the debt for those players as it will take us until 2011”

Seems to me he's saying they don't expect to be here come the end of the season after next.
