bobbyshinton 59
Never really thought about it until woor lass asked yesterday. Do taxis charge by the distance, time or both?
Craig 6702
AFAIK they have a standing charge and then it's done on time rather than specifically distance. i.e. rush hour ends up costing you more for the same journey than it would a few hours later... MattM4 0
A bit of both no? I'm pretty sure I've noticed that when you're bombing along the amount increases faster.

smoggeordie 0
its usually about 20p per 1/12th of a mile, unless it takes longer than 20 secs and then its 20 for 20 secs or summit like that
Gejon 2
Standing tarriff charge of £2.00 Then 20p every 217 metres and if at a standstill, 20p every 30 seconds. Naturally far fewer traffic jams in the North than the south. There should be an extra charge for obnoxious or boring bastards who think that every taxi driver has never seen the Peter Kay taxi sketch. Alas. South Tyneside and every council sets their own rates. Soooooo...... busy tonight?
bobbyshinton 59
Day off, 4 pints of Kronnenburg and a curry. Yum Yum. Is it your own car?
