AFAIK they have a standing charge and then it's done on time rather than specifically distance. i.e. rush hour ends up costing you more for the same journey than it would a few hours later...

Seems a bit harsh like, tho I could see them charging him by the joke.

Standing tarriff charge of £2.00

 

Then 20p every 217 metres

 

and if at a standstill, 20p every 30 seconds.

 

Naturally far fewer traffic jams in the North than the south.

 

There should be an extra charge for obnoxious or boring bastards who think that every taxi driver has never seen the Peter Kay taxi sketch. Alas.

 

 

South Tyneside and every council sets their own rates.
